I just had a question for all of you that are on Topamax. I just started Topamax about a month ago. After reading about some of the side afects people have had with it I decided to take it slow upping my doses. My Dr told me to up it every week - I decided to wait & up it after 2 weeks (it works well for me) Anyway my insurance does not cover it so the Dr gives me samples of it. I had the little white tablet pills before but this time I have sprinkle capsles. I need to open the caples up & sprinkle it on soft food (yogurt, apple sauce ect) Has anyone ever tried just taking the capsles with water? Or notice a difference between the two? They are the same dose sizes (25mg). It also kinda bothers me that the intructions with the topamax says to take both in morning & evening & my Dr has only intructructed me to take it in the evening. I'm wondering if there is any difference between when you take it or not when it is for migranes or not.

Note*******I have not taken the sprinkle form*********

I think the only difference in taking it in the morning and evening versus one daily dose would be to split it up to keep a level amount of medication in your system....

I am not sure what the difference would be taking it with water...you might want to simply call the pharmacy to ask about that one?

Thank you tysmaboo. I did talk with my Pharmasyst. sorry spelling is bad fighting off a sinus infect too so it hurts to think. He told me that I can take the capisals with water & that the time of day thing is mainly prefence cuz it is more of a time released drug.

Hello,

I find that sometimes Topamax makes me a little crazy so I take the majority of my dosage in the evening. It also makes me tired.

It used to make me tired too...I still take mine at night so I am not sure if it still does or not! ha ha...

I had some range of (not so important) side effects when first taking Topamax...and I promise you, now...You couldn't pay me enough to STOP taking it.

I doesnt make me tired but I have noticed when I started taking the my mouth got very sore (teeth & gums) & I felt very druged up (out of it like I was on a bunch of cold meds), stuttering & memmory loss- I figure all things that could be much worse. When I upped it to 75mg it was easier - mainly cuz cuz I was fighting a sinus infection & had to go to the Dr for some meds. for it. But I did not have the sore mouth or the memmory loss. I think 75mg will work for me cuz the only headaches that I have noticed have been the sinus headaches.
