Hi, I've been suffering from chronic headaches for over 10 years. they are non-localized and i do not have typical symptoms of migraines however I've begun taking a common migraine med, Imitrex sumatriptan, and it is very effective. Most of my research seems to indicate i have tension headaches however i find it odd that a Vasal constrictor such as imitrex would be effective with a type of headache that seems to stem from tension or vassal constriction. Any ideas about this? I would really like to stop taking the imitrex if there are other alternatives. I have heard of the use nortriptyline or repuptake inhibitors for tension headaches however it seems that they would not be effective if the triptan is? I'm confused ;(

If you are sure that these are tension related. I would work on the stress. I recommend Mindfulness, meditation, walking, yoga[the gentle sort] controlled breathing.

Getting rid of the tension, will reduce the pain.
