I am new to the migraine forum but not new to Healing Well.
I am getting horrid headaches recently -- in addition to the usual headaches I get when the barometric pressure changes. Headaches usually are in my face, around my eyes and forehead like sinus pressure, but they also have the feeling of something gripping my head really hard, squeezing both temples. Often I also get tight shoulders and tension around the head/neck join with these.
I can get relief by turning the AC to 58, taking otc sinus meds, plus ibuprofen, plus Excedrin Migraine. And add a Dr Pepper and they usually disappear fairly quickly. Of course, this requires stopping whatever I am doing and focusing on headache recovery.
I have two main questions -
(1) Would I really benefit from seeing my GP, going wherever she suggests, etc? I hate to waste time/money on Drs when I do have a treatment that helps. (Is there any treatment than PREVENTS the headaches from even coming?)
(2) Is there any drawback with taking meds as I have indicated? Any benefit to having something prescription?
I know these are fairly minor compared to headaches some of you experience, but they can get bad enough that I can't think, and even laying quietly in a dark room is painful. Thanks so much for your input.
