Migraine Triggers: Perfume OK, Incense ??

Hello! I've been experiencing migraines with aura for a few years now ever since I was about eleven or twelve. I haven't had a major episode (knock on figurative wood) since I was fifteen (I'm nearly nineteen now), which makes me believe my main trigger was probably hormone related since, as a female, most of my migraines occurred around either before, during, or after my period. Once I started taking norethindrone a short time after my last episode for painful cramps I was also experiencing, my migraines basically disappeared. I still get the occasional headache, but since then I haven't had the aura and awful pain.

So after that extremely long introduction, I have a question to ask. I'd like to start burning incense every now and then, but have heard it can be a trigger for migraines. I'm terrified of getting one again, so I figured I'd post to a forum & see what advice people had to offer before trying it out myself. I'm completely fine with perfumes & in fact love wearing fragrant lotions & the like, so I seem to be okay there, but I still want to be sure. If I'm okay with perfume, will I be okay with incense? Like everything, it is trial and error for all. What triggers one person, does not trigger another.

Sorry, but there is no tried and true answer.

Yeah, sry, you're just gonna have to try it to find out. Personally, incense sticks will give me a bad migraine about 80% of the time. I too, am pretty good with scents and fragrances, I actually find it's the smoke combined with the scent that'll trigger the migraine. If you've ever gotten migraines around campfires, bbq's, etc, I'd be careful.

Thanks for the replies so far! I just might have to try it for myself & see what happens. I think I'm good around campfires & fireplaces, but I didn't even think about the smoke thing before, and honestly I haven't been around campfires long enough to determine that.
