For the past 3 weeks I have had a small cold, cough, sinus infection, been to the dr and they didn't even treat it....... didn't seem important. I have also had headaches. Every day. and pain in my neck every day. My neck is so sore I can't stand it. I have been to the hospital twice in the last week with migraines that didn't go away with my axert or imitrex injections. I had to go get a shot of Diluad and Phenergan and go to bed. Lack of sleep caused them, I know it, and I knew it was going to happen. I just had to get up and go shopping the day after Thanksgiving! I had only gone to bed about 2 hours before I got up so... there you go... instant trigger for migraine. by 5 pm it was pounding!

This morning I woke up with the same migraine type headache but in a different spot. Is this possible? I have had migraines for over 20 years and they have always been in the right temple area. Thi s morning I was awakened with the same pain in my left temple. same pressure, same nausea, same everything...

My question: does my sore neck sound like anything to worry about? and do migraines move to different parts of your head? Mine has been in the same spot for 20 years...... And, should treat it with the axert and imitrex like a true migraine if it isn't? It sure feels like it though!

Hi Tracy,

Sorry to hear about your headaches. My migraines move from side to side regularly and neck pain can definitely trigger them as well as sinus pain.

When neck pain triggers them I find that two muscle relaxants with two pain killers usually do the trick. If you have some T3s, take them with a muscle relaxant like Advil, Aleve, or Ibuprofen or if you have something stronger like Toradol. I have found these work better than taking a lot of narcotics.

When sinuses are the problem I find that a hot bath and blowing my nose out to clear them and then following with a couple of Tylenol or Tylenol Sinus does the trick. I need the Tylenol because the hot bath can make my headache worse and the Tylenol stops me from overheating.

I get Botox injections, though the jury is still out on if it works for me. My neurologist says that for migraines triggered by muscle pain it works wonders. You might ask your doctor / neurologist about it.

Good luck.

PS Liz, if you have to wait a week to get to the doctor, do you have a walk in clinic you can go to? There's no reason to wait a week with a migraine. I would go insane. Can you get paracetamol with codeine over the counter at the chemist? That with some thing to sleep might help. That's what I have done in an emergency.

It just seems crazy that you have to wait a week to see the doctor. Mine will squeeze me in I call. I can't believe they won't do that. I have had five migraines this week. If I didn't have medication I would have done something extreme a long time ago. Keep you chin up and try not to let the stress get to you. Unfortunately I know how you feel this week. I'm thinking of you. :-)
