hello fellow headache sufferers

I'm wondering if this sound like low intracranial pressure, cervical disc issues, or for that matter, anything that you have experienced or read/heard about:

-occipital intracranial pressure sensation, feels like it's coming from top of spine. Pressure is dull, not painful. Can be constant to point of nausea.
-I sometimes have odd feelings of soreness in jaw/teeth as well as what i can only describe as tingling in the sinuses.

symptoms come on when sitting, particularly in bucket / soft seats. Standing/running does not aggravate it.

what relieves the pressure:
- alcohol (near instantaneous)
- being on an airplane gives me relief for following day
- lying down
- exercise, except for lifting

I have had this for 10 years, with no change
-eye exams/MRI have shown nothing
-have had multiple nerve blocks to no effect
-dont have tmj, clean dental bill of health
-no pain anywhere else except in head / top of spine

I have posted responses to other threads online, but never heard back from op. hopefully someone here has some ideas.

thank you

Welcome Hijak,

As for alcohol relieving it so quickly, and no other symptoms noted.

I have to ask myself, "How much stress is this person under on a daily basis?"

When I say stress, I mean, the anxiety, worry, nagging concerning that loop in your brain, especially at night.

Your shoulders may be knots of muscles and you are not even aware of it.

I clenched my jaw, while sleeping and taking tests, did not realize it til I was in my 40's.

What was the diagnosis for the basis of nerve blocks?
I understand that most nerve block last the average of 3 years.

I hope this helped.

They were diagnostic blocks. I had them done at C1 and C2 level. I've also had medial branch blocks, occipital blocks, and a lidocain infusion. Nothing helped

Id love to believe its stress and muscle tension, but Ive tried so many treatments with that in mind:
PT x 3 courses
meds: flexeril, xanax, ...
heatpacks, cold circulating systems, massages, exercise

I'm not sure whats left to try.

Is it possible that alcohol has an effect on intracranial pressure, like mannitol or paradoxically?

Of course it would.

How much do you drink?

There is also the possibility that there is no cure.

My conditions, I am in a good spot if pain levels stay between 3 to 5.

I use mindfulness and meditation for pain relieve.

I am on my phone so can not link it.

Check www.mindful.or

Mindfulness is a skill that works best when it becomes part of a way of life. NO drastic change needs to be made, however conscious application and time help to improve symptoms.

I would stop drinking alcohol and increase water to 18oz a day min.

Wow, Hijak, I have something very similar! I experience:
*Tension at the base of my skull
*It seems to run from there to the center of my head to my sinuses
*Tight sinuses with constant slight-to-moderate stuffiness
*Seems to be connected to ringing in my ears (which is there any time I look for it--like now)
*Facial tension with an urge to grimace
*More pronounced when I'm tired or stressed
*My upper cervical vertebrae (primarily the "Atlas"-uppermost vertebra) always seems to need a chiropractic adjustment. This provides slight to moderate relief but only for a short while. When "Atlas" is out, the tension is worse and I find it difficult sleeping: shallow sleep; difficulty sleeping in; resulting fatigue during the day; falling asleep is fine.

I used to have painful headaches as a boy, into young adulthood. At 22, I learned Transcendental Meditation (TM). 6 months later, the headaches were gone. But this annoying tension has remained. When I meditate these days, my entire head loosens up. By the time I'm done, my sinuses have drained down my throat. The tension gradually returns during the next several hours. The only headaches I've had as an adult have been decades in the past when I've gone several days without meditating. I'm pretty regular these days.

In addition to meditating twice daily, I eat extremely well and maintain a very good exercise regimen. I drink coffee about 2 x per month and 2 beers per week. Yes, the beer seems to provide significant relief for about an hour or 2.

I am a psychotherapist by trade and clearly notice the discomfort/tension/stress connection both conceptually and experientially. I am aware of a small percentage of it being conscious. The majority is unconscious, i.e. the tension occurs "automatically." Depth psychotherapy would be extremely expensive and, to my understanding, the result for relieving this type of tension is doubtful at best. I've been thinking about trying biofeedback/neurofeedback which (to my understanding) provides a focus to the relaxation or brain activation/deactivation which might provide better and more durable results. I just have to pick myself up and do it.

I'm thankful to have found this forum. Keep the ideas coming.

Mine story is bit different , I am 31 healthy man . I ate well and exercise regularly until I started with meditation. Due to the bombardment in media how meditation is useful I developed I habit to meditate on daily basis and everything was right until I bumped on guided meditation by Brain Sync company called Kundalini meditation I didn't know what it was at that time so used it several times because I liked it.

Since then my life is hell I have severe head pressure and God knows what have I done to my self .
I am absolutely certain that is consequence of meditation , I came across hundreds of people suffering same problems of meditation on internet . The problem is that if I go to forums where are people who meditate and share same problems I get mystical explanations like purifying chakras but I really have to find way out of this.
You can’t even imagine what have I tried. I did various medical checks such as MRI and EGG which turned out to be fine.
I also visited many neurologists, I even spoke with guy who was candidate for Nobel prize in neurosciences who told me that this is no consequence of meditation and that I should reduce stress. I have been to chiropractic, craniosacral therapy three times, acupuncture, Reiki, massages you name it . I started with Qigong classes , I can't even remember what else this I tried..
I went also to psychiatrist well known one who first thought it was anxiety so she gave me pills for that that didn't work , second guess was that I am imagining it and she gave pills for psychosis which of course didn't work as well .Eventually she gave me antidepressants that didn't work as well and sent me to bioenergist who didn't help as well .Then I changed psychiatrist who change medicine and I went through hell , pills put me down and I was throwing up every morning and couldn't sleep. I gave up on that and started Ayurveda medicine that didn't work so I stopped that as well.
I recently met Russian millionaire who told me that he is owner of several clinics in Russian and that his daughter had suffered from migraines for seven years and they have been to various doctors from US to Japan and eventually Iranian guy here in Serbia helped her, next morning I was in his office. He gave me bunch of cocktails for 500 euros and I all I got was 3 kilos because his pills were full of vitamin B.
Next is I am seeing guy who has developed machine based on Tesla's idea that measure frequency although I have been to quantum medicine with failure as well .
The worst is that in moments of desperation my father took to shaman who told me that I am under magic , I never felt so stupid and humiliated in my life.
Please help I don’t know what to do more
