i suffer from migraines sometimes 3-4 times a week, today's was hell.  i don't take anything for them, well, because i don't know what to take.  the over-the-counter drugs don't touch them, and have been prescribed imetrex, which didn't do much.  plus i'm on other medications for other things, and don't want to get a bad mix.  but i can't go on with ones like i had today.  i'm sure everyone here knows the breakdowns....dizziness, sick to my stomach, blurry vision, over sensitive to light and sound.  today i could barely move, and when i actually tried to get up, dizzy spells hit me so hard, i fell to the floor.  i can not function when they hit me this hard (which is becoming more frequent).  i don't know what to do....i've been searching for a doctor that takes medical card, so far to no avail.  if anyone has any suggestions on how to deal with this monster, please, let me know.

thank you for listening

First of all, I am sorry that you are going through this. I have been having similar migraines since Jan '05. The first thing that you need to do is see a neurologist. They will most likely want an MRI to rule out any problems. They will probably put you on a preventative that you take every day, like Topamax. There are plenty of triptans other than Imitrex that you can try. Unfortunately, I am allergic to them. But there are so many med combinations to try, please don't give up. I haven't - I keep plowing through each day.
