Hello,

This topic is a little edgy, but I thought it was worth posting. My fiance suffers from migraines (but not cluster headaches), and when I was looking around for treatments today (shes on Maxalt or something I think, dissolves on her tongue) and came across the website www.clusterbuster[s?].com today and was wondering if any of you have information on the use of mushrooms for CH or migraine treatments? There are reports out that that taking 1/4-1/2 of a hallucinogenic dose relieves some of these people of their CH's or migraines for months or years at a time.

The fact that so many people are reporting such great success with psilocybin is hardly surprising. A great many of the migraine medications, as I'm sure you all know are triptans- based off of the tryptamines, of which psilocybin is one (4-hydroxy-dimethyltryptamine, or 4-ho-dmt)- and very closely related to serotonin. When I went to verify this, I even noticed that on Maxalts warning label they note that you should not take it if you are taking any of ther ergotamines- chemicals from which LSD is derived, also very similar to serotonin.

The claims that these people make are incredible, but quite possible. I urge all of you to write to your congressmen and senators and ask them to get a study going. Imagine something that you could take once- at a very low dose (I could understand not wanting to take a high dose! cool )- and not having another migraine or cluster headache for months or years!!!

It also makes me wonder if anyone has tried Melatonin. It is also a tryptamine, but lacks any real psychoactive effects, and even its sleep inducing properties are questionable (though in finland it is a prescription drug). I'm gonna get some for my fiance and have her try it and post back here about her results.

Here are some links to sites with great information:
http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_medical1.shtml
http://www.clusterbusters.com/
http://www.maps.org

If anyone has tried it (or knows someone who has), I'd love to hear about it. All I know is that when my fiance has a headache, I feel so powerless. Anything that would offer her the ability to become headache free for such a length of time (before redosing) would be worth it to me.

Yesterday a brazillian christian church, with a branch in the US, won a major battle at the Supreme Court and will soon begin importing their sacrament again-- ayahoasca, a tea made of two plants, one of them containing DMT, (remember, mushrooms have 4-ho-DMT in them). Maybe they'll have a bunch of headache sufferers joining them? I'm not a member of it (until I can go to brazil where your initiation must take place), but I do know the head of it.

Sorry this has gone on so long. I'm just so filled with hope for my fiance.

Hamilton
