Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with migraines when I was pregnant with my first child 7 years ago and it's been a huge battle ever since.

Currently I'm on Amitryptiline as a preventative and Zomig to stave off an attack.  I also take celexa for depression.

I know most of my triggers are hormone related and barometric pressure.  But I've never really been able to get a handle on them.  Once I get one, it lasts for days...sometimes, like right now it's been lasting for over two weeks.

I'm going to see my GP this wednesday.  I want to ask him about getting a partial hysterectomy.  Has anyone done this for a theraputic way to treat migraines?

I know the information out there on complete hysterectomies is not good for migraines.  Statistics say it usually makes things worse.

Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Vicky-

I am NOT a doctor!

I have heard that this can go either way...It may help OR You may go through this and end right back up where you are...

The best info I can give you is to do some research on your own sweetie.

National Headache Foundation

American Council for Headache Education

M.A.G.N.U.M

www.about.com (they have a section on headaches and migraines-some good info)

That should get you started. Go to www.google.com to help find these websites or email me and let me know.

I would suggest to find a doctor/specialist and find medication to TREAT THE PROBLEM! There are medications to prevent the headaches/migraines, there are medications to abort the headaches when you get them and rescue medications to help when pain....

Take a look at your options Vicky.

Let me know what we can do to help.

thanks Sara for your info.  You are very helpful.

I have been doing research and you've given me a few more resources to search through.

I very much appreciate your help.

So far from what I've found, I'm just going to end up doing another med change.

I'll keep praying to the menopause fairies and hope I get relief when it's my time.

thanks again,

Vic
