Hi everyone, I went to my family dr. yesterday.  She suggested that i have a combination of Tension headaches from stress and migranes, which i ould agree on, she wants me to start taking a antidepressent, i am not to crazy about this idea, my husband don't want me too either,  it is called Effexor 37.5mg for two weeks the double it for two weeks then go back and see her, i go back to my neuo, the 31st which is wed., what does everyone think? i am a little nervous on not knowing what to do, I really don't like the idea of taking a antidepressent? Hi firebabe, Welcome to Healing Well. I am taking an anti-depressent as a preventative for migraine at the moment, in low doses some antidepressents can tone down the pain and they can also take stress levels down to an acceptable level.

I totally understand your reluctance to take this, I was reluctant at first too, it may be worth giving it a go and see what happens, it may surprise you, but at the end of the day it is up to you. Let us know how you get on.

Take care Ann.
