Hi all

I am 21 and i've had migraines since i was 12.  My migraines are currently at the worst they've ever been (somewhere between 1 and 5 a week).  I've tried every type of drug out there and theres nothing that helps besides tylenol 3 but im not too keen on taking tylenol 3 all the time because of the resultant drug induced headaches.  I also seem to have a headache whenever i dont have a migraine and ive come here as a last resort.  any advice?

Hi Ashley,

Welcome to Healingwell. Sorry you are having such a rough time. Have you seen a Neurologist, and if so what have they said? Sounds to me as though your case needs to be reviewed by a Doctor/Neurologist!

Let us know how you get on, take care Ann

In addition to Ann's question....Are you taking preventatives?

If you are not...and you just continue to take Tylenol 3, you are in rebound...you need to STOP taking the Tylenol 3 as you mentioned and see a DR.

They can begin you on a preventative to control the number of headaches you have!

Basically without doing so you are like a hampster on the wheel...just running the cycle!

Let us know if you have any questions!

Take care,

Sara

Hi there
I've tried perventatives, am currently seeing a DR, and I will be seeing a Neurologist... Unfortunately any preventatives I've tried have not done their job (I was on one for a year with no change so i did give it some time to start working and another for another year). I'm also very careful with the amount of tylenol i take because i know the risks of rebound headaches. Thanks for the support so far though!

i hear you!!!
just keep trying preventatives-there are a million out there and worth a shot. (i am kind of pro-medication-sorry) maybe don't stay on them for a year if you can tell they aren't working-try something else.
i have tried pt, acupuncture, chiro, none of it really worked for me but you never know, everyone is different.
i am now on cymbalta as my preventative and have seen some result. i still have a headache when i don't have a migraine but it is less severe and can be delt with for a few hours. i mix up what i take-aleve, percocet, butabital and relpax so i don't get the rebound.
hope that helps!!!

Hi and Welcome,

I have had them that bad too....they change on me all the time though, so don't know what has worked, and what was a fluke.

I took Topral XL for my heartrate, and it helped prevent the migraines.

Goodluck,
Amby
