Hello all..

I see my neurologist Wednesday, and was wondering if there were any questions I should ask? I wanted to see if he would give me a sample of everything he has, so that I can take each one when I get a migraine to see which one works the best. Do you think he'll go for that?? I didn't even know that there were so many drugs available. When I was a kid they gave me Butalbitol, now Relpax. The Relpax only prevents a hospital visit, not much else. It makes me not vomit, but the pain is still so intense I cry. I've been keeping a food diary, and the only common factor is that I get one when I've skipped a meal, or am hungry. Has anyone ever heard of hunger being a trigger? I'm a diabetic, so my husband things theres a link between being hungry, my blood sugar dropping, and migraine. Thanks!

Hi Shannon,

I am not diabetic, but I know if I am hungry cos I am late for a meal or I miss a meal, that is a recipe for a headache!!! If I get too thirsty, that will also be a trigger.

I don't think your Neuro would be able to give out samples for you to try, but I may be wrong! He will want to discuss with you the best way forward!

Wishing you all the best for Wednesday, let us know how you get on!

take care Ann

If you can...before your appointment (if you have a migraine)
write down what it felt like..where did it start? Front of head back of head..that kind of thing.

I didn't have a migraine when my nero asked this, so I don't think I was very accurate. Hope that helps,
Amby

I have to eat on time everyday or I am guaranteed a headache. I am not diabetic, actually I tend to lean toward the hypoglycemic side.

Shannon,

You can find out what catagory your migraine fits in by answering a questionaire on the net with "The National Headache Foundation". Very helpful to you and your Dr. Hunger is a trigger, along with a host of other things like exercise, but you should note your own triggers. One thing that has helped me is straight oxygen but it doesnt work for all types of migraine. Good luck!
