Hi all,

I'm am also new to this board, i just found it.  I have been suffering from migarines for about 15 years now.  I an how 26 - female.

I myself experience several different types of migraines but the most extreme have to do with my menstral cycle where i can have major pain for upwards of 2 to 3 days.

What i have experienced in the past 4 or 5 years with my migraines is major tension in my neck.  Sometimes so bad as it hurts too much to even try and lift my head.  My doc is not very helpful ( i know i need a new one) she just prescribes my accute relief medication (Zomig - has anyone tried it??) and that's about it and says there is not much else she can do.

What i'm wondering is if anyone else can relate to the extreme neck pain that i am experiencing?
Also, i have been told that birth control pills can contribute to migraines, i'm considering going off the pill to see if this may help.

Any suggestions or information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much. :-)

Hi Stayce07,

Welcome to Healing Well. I sometimes get severe pain in the back of my neck with the migraine. It seems that we all experience migraine slightly differently. I have not tried Zomig personally but I am sure someone will come along who has with their input.

Have you seen a Neurologist who specialises in headache, if possible it would be a real help to get you the treatment you need, maybe something like a preventative! Let us know how you get on.

take care Ann

Hi Ann,

Thanks for your response and the welcome to the board.  It's nice to know that i'm not alone and maybe get some ideas from other sufferers to help get through this.

I have never been to a neurologist, i'm assuming i'd need a refferal.  I'll have to talk to my family doctor about that.  As I stated in my last post she's not very helpful in helping me try to prevent the migraines she only prescribes me the accute relief medication which is why i'm in the process of finding a new doctor.

Thanks again and i look forward to posting with you!

Hi Stayce,

Unfortunately most family Docs don't know much about headache and sometimes we have to keep going back until they make a referral. Maybe you need to state clearly that you have had enough of the pain and could they please refer you to a Neurologist - be persistent, all the best with that!!

take care Ann
