Hi. I'm new to this headache stuff. 42 and until 3weeks ago I could count on one hand the number of headaces I've had. It started about 8 months ago with eye pain coming and going, meant to eventualy be seen about but it never lasted long enough to REALY bother me. Then about 3 weeks ago I was at work and my vision got blurry, I had a slight headache and pain in my ear (all on the left side). THAT got me to the DR, she said it was probly an aura migraine and sent me to the eye Dr just make sure everything was ok. My eyes were fine but it got worse. Only my left side is affected. Now my left side of my face is numb too. It's not REAL bad all the time but it NEVER  goes away. I can tell when its gonna get bad because my ear starts hurting. I went to a nuerolgist and he has ordered some blood tests and some MRI's.(MRA?) Is that all the tests that he needs to do? He seems to think it's migraines too. It's kinda scary reading your posts. How do you sleep? I've gotten so grumpy lately that I realy don't want to talk to anyone. How do you get through work? I've taken all the time off work I can, and my job is suffering. I keep forgetting things, Sheesh I can't imagine going like this for YEARS.... They gave me some Imatrex for when it gets bad and I take advil the rest of the time but it still doesn't make it go away. Do you ever get your life back? sad

Hi Smilinez,

Welcome to Healing Well. Sorry you have got these headaches, but you have got somewhere now to come for support. Don't be afraid to vent here as we all need to do that from time to time, it's tough living with migraine!!

Glad you are seeing a Neurologist and are getting an MRI done with bloodwork just to rule out anything else. As for getting your life back, things will not be quite the same, but in time you will adapt and it will feel more like it!!!

I am 52 now, 53 in just over two weeks and have had migraine for just over 30 years, it has got worse for me as I have grown older, and I am now under a Neurologist who is a Headache Specialist and am waiting to go into Hospital for Tests.

Migraines forever???? - well I hope not, but if it is to be I have the Healing Well family and others for support!

take care

Ann

I have been having headaches for 20 + years. Have recently discovered the power of Rizatriptan 10 mg and Naproxen sodium. If one tablet of each is taken at the onset of the migraine/headache you will be free of pain within 30 minutes. It works for me 90% of the time. Give it a try and most importantly talk to your doctor about it. Let me know if it works for you.

Good luck.
