Hi I am a 23 yr old Male, and suffered from extreme migraines for about 2 months on and off, at the end I was treated with elavil which worked great! I started a new job, and now I dont get migraine headache pain, but an annoying numbness in the same area, behind my ear. My neck is also very stiff on that side. My guess is its a pinched nerve, but could there be anything more serious involved? I have had extremely dark, smelly urination lately and pain in my left testicle, but it doesnt burn when I urinate..could this have caused my migraines and now the numbness? I have no other symptoms except the numbness, and urination. I had an MRI before i was treated for migraines which showed lesions, and they did an eye exam for MS which came back negative.

any direction here would be great. I also suffer from carpal tunnel at times, and my left art goes numb and sore because of it.

Hi Erik,

Welcome to Healing Well. Sorry you are suffering with these migraines. Glad the elavil has worked for you. As for the numbness it could be just one of those things - I sometimes get something similar! Or, alternatively it may warrant further investigation. So my suggestion is that you go back to your Doctor to discuss this, as he/she is best able to advise you!

Hope you get some answers, please keep in touch and let us know how you get on?

take care

i havent slept all night and will be sure to ask to see him Tuesday.

I seem to shake myself and get chills up and down my spine while trying to sleep. I cant tell if its from too much caffiene, the elavil, or both..

So I got some sleep the next nite (14) hours of it. I was so tired. anyway I am thinking my migraines are caused by poor posture. I have the following symptoms, numbness as described above. and after a hot shower to loosen my neck, my neck feels hot, very hot. not going away either. I do have once major concern that this caused from a disease. My urine has been very dark and smelly for months, yet it doesnt burn when i urinate.. I drink more water and it gets lighter, but in the morning always dark and has a kind of milky look to it. could a Urinary infection be causing my migraines or am I just needing more water, and resting my back. I think its just my back is out of whack, its been really stiff since i was 13-15yrs old.

OK its been a while, but I hate when ppl don't follow up on these sites then I can't take their advice :-)
Anyway, yea I am off the Elavil now and i still get headaches, but it was probably due to a pinched nerve in my neck. I noticed it gets to hurting at the end of the night everytime, never in the afternoon. I massaged this HUGE knot in my neck which my friend said is due to the fact that I have slept on my stomach face down for as long as I have known. I now sleep on my back or side, when I forget to my neck and head aches like before.. so I think im good for now. yeah I STILL haven't seen my doctor, I have to wait till the 10th..of Oct. ridiculous! I am glad I dont have to take drugs now tho, except prilosec every once in a while. cheers

Hi Erik,

Glad you have found some relief! It's amazing how sometimes it can be just a simple thing that will help such as the position you sleep! The difficulty is that we are all different and quite often it is finding that thing!

Please keep in touch Erik don't be a stranger, take care
