Hi Headsore,

Welcome to Healing Well. There are a number of us here that that have had similar experiences so you are in good company!

Have you seen a Neurologist? Is it possible to be referred to a Neurologist who is a Headache Specialist? After 30years plus I am now in the process of being assessed by a Headache Specialist, I know he does not have a magic wand but I do know he will find the best way forward for me to give me optimum quality of life!

Please feel free to vent when you need to, as these headaches are tough to live with. Keep us posted as to how you get on.

take care

Ann

Hi Headsore,

Sorry you are suffering so much, this wretched disease can really get you down sometimes, but the upside is now for you, is that you have a family here at Healing Well to support you. Wish we could help with the pain but we can't. But we do understand what you are going through. I started in my mid-teens and am going to be 53 a week on Sunday!!! - still no sign of a let up for me!!

Keep posting and let us know how you are, take care

There is nothing worse than a MIGRAINE. A headache specialist recently lectured, "A migraine may not kill you, but it certainly will make you wish that you were dead." Seeing a good neurologist is a start, but if you don't get satisfaction, look for one that specializes in headaches. A neurologist that specializes in headaches will be informed about all the different therapies available. After jumping through all the necessary medical hoops, you may end up at the Pain Clinic. There is hope on the horizon with new therapies being developed for this difficult problem. I wish you well in your quest for a life absent of headaches.

Dear Headsore-

Mine can go like that too. Once they really get hold nothing helps and they seem to last forever. The longest one I had was 7 days. I went to the clinic twice for shots and took all the things my neuro gave me. Sometimes if I can sleep, it will break the cycle. Sometimes not. I actually lost my job in Jan 2005 because of these stupid things. That's a long drawn out story. Have you tried a high blood pressure med? I take one twice a day and it seems to be helping a bit. Maybe something like that will work for you. I can sure relate and I know others can too, seeing that we're all here.

I LOVE Imakerux quote!!!! I'll have to remember that when I'm laying on my bathroom floor with a cold washcloth on my head. That's when I really wish it was possible to cut off my head. That would feel better than the migraine.
