Hello everyone- I'd be so happy if anyone can suggest anything to me. I have migraines which were only recently diagnosed for which I take Imitrex which help a lot. The trouble is a lot of my headaches are of a different sort which can then turn into migraines if they go on long enough. It's really hard to explain head pain to a doctor- does anyone find this- as pains kind of blen into one another. The heads which really get me down seem to be catarrh based- I've had them for years and thought they were sinus pains. If I describe them it may help...suddenly i feel like my nose just blocks up, sometimes from heat, smells etc and I feel like I have a hangover- groggy, pain all over my face particularly across my cheeks and jaws and I can "smell" and taste catarrh which makes me really nauseous. These can last for days and no sinus relief painkillers have ever touched them, nor has inhaling steam, cough pastilles etc and if I use a nasal spray or stick the pain becomes worse- a sort of drawing pain. My true migraines aren't like this at all- they start over the eye and usually last just a  few hours. Surely if it was sinus then medication would help? I know I have way too much catarrh- is there a good way of clearing his up anyone? I have irritable bowel so don't like to use antibiotics- besides, I've had this problem for years! It's driving me mad- is there anyone with something similar?

Hi mydogsandme,

Sorry you are suffering so much with these headaches. Have you seen and ENT Specialist (Ear, Nose and Throat) about this? If so what are their comments. It sounds like you are right about the sinus link as it sounds more like sinus problems than migraine, but I am not a Doctor so cannot be sure. I would go back and talk to my Doctor about this if I were you.

Please post back and let us know how you get on?

take care
