Thank you again yesterday for listening about my marathon migraine. I am much better today (day 4).

I met with my PCP for a half hour yesterday and the luck was with me because Dr Diamond from the Diamond Headache Clinic was in visitng him at the same time!!! yeah He reviewed my case with her and she suggested "rescue meds" be prescribed ASAP and to keep them on hand.   The rescue group of meds were Ativan, Haldol, Benadryl and Reglan for the nausea.   He also wants me to take 400 mg of Riboflavin a day.

Sooooo, I got the meds from the pharmacy and went home and took everything.  I was relaxed and feeling better within 2 hours and slept soundly all night.   I just have to see how this works on the beginning of the full-blown migraine attack.

My BP was fine and no other medical issues were going on.  Arm tingling was from the Topomax increase.

Has anyone else tried that combo of rescue meds??

Hi Cheryl,

So glad you were able to get to see Dr Diamond and get some treatment that I hope continues to work for you. Did Dr Diamond or your PCP explain what each drug was for? Are you to continue on the Topamax as well?

take care

Unfortunately I didn't meet Dr Diamond - she was passing thru and happened to be right by my exam room so the doc caught her before he came in. Yes, he explained each med and its purpose. I am only them for the migraine emergency, not daily.

I am still on the Topamax daily.

Hi Cheryl,

I do hope this works for you to give you a better quality of life. Personally, I have not come across this combo of meds for migraine, but I do know it's best to stick with what works!

Keep in touch, take care

I guess the combo is pretty common and my PCP apologized for not giving it to me sooner.

We'll see how it does on the next marathon migraine. The nausea med is great, just having that is a huge help.

Hi Cheryl,

I take a similar combo and it works really well. I find a combination a lot more effective than just one type of medications.

Good luck.
