Hi, I'm 15 years old, and I've suffered from migraines for about 4/5 years now. My mom suffers from migraines and chronic fatigue. Before now I've always gotten intense, throbbing pains that often knocked me off my feet, and in researching migraines I'v found that this is in fact, common.
At about 7:30 am yesterday, I got up to go to school and felt really dizzy, like the world was spinning. This happens often, so I thought nothing of it. Some fresh air and walking dismissed it. about lunch time I started feeling really dizzy and sensitive to light, and an aura appeared in my vision. Luckily it was almost time to go home. When I got home however, I collapsed in my bedroom and stayed there all night.

This is what I'm worried about. Somewhere around 5:00 pm I started getting these "shockwaves" of pain from the back of my head down through my body, almost like electricity through a wire. Often the pain would target certain areas of my body, such as my leg, arm or chest. By occasionally my whole body would feel the pain. Has anyone else felt this or heard of this? It's the first time I can remember feeling it, and I really, really don't like it.

Hey Leo,

Welcome to Healing well. Sorry you had such a horrid experience yesterday!! The thing is, any changes in your headaches should really be discussed with a Doctor just to make sure everything is still ok. Have you ever experienced anything like this before?

Some people can experience sudden pain like shockwaves through the head as there are many types of headache. You sound like a sensible guy, talk to your Mum about asking your Doctor or if you have a Neurologist they might be the better person to speak to!!

Please let us know how you get on?

take care

I second Ann on that. Your symptoms sound like they could be something serious.

Good Luck !

Hi Leo,

Welcome again. :-)

I also agree with Annuk. It's a good idea to see your doctor whenever your headaches change, get worse or take on different symptoms. Migraine headaches are different for everyone and I've heard of people experiencing the symptoms you've described, however that doesn't mean you are experiencing a migraine until a doctor diagnoses it. If it is a migraine the doctor can probably give you something that stops it fairly quickly and may be able to diagnose why you're experiencing dizziness on a regular basis.

Good luck.
