Hello and welcome,

I had only heard of it once before you mentioned it. When I saw your message I did a bit of research and found an article on this website at this address: http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2006/dec2006_cover_migraine_01.htm.

I am considering discussing it with my naturopath as it sounds like an excellent solution if it's effective.

I would also be interested in hearing if anyone else has tried it and had positive or negative experiences.

Thanks!

Thanks for your replies!  I am going to be starting it soon.  I will let you know how it goes!

If anyone else is trying it or has tried it, I would love to hear about it.

I'm also reading the book and have been in contact with Dr Dzugan's clinic. Unfortunately, they had no US based references to provide, and the cost was quite high.. I will be interested to hear your fdbk.. Marianne

Hi!  I've read the article in the December LEF magazine.  I've actually ordered 2 copies of the book.  I am reading it myself now; in addition, I gave a copy of it to my family physician 2 weeks ago and am anxiously awaiting his take (my neurologist doesn't do hormones).  I purchased the book thru Dragon Door; I notice that the only 2 reviewers are Dr. Dzugan's nurse, and Nick - the Advisor in Columbus, OH (who I spoke with on one of my 2 calls to the foundation).  I like everything I see, but I do have 3 reservations at this point:  1) cost ($2K to get started, $100/month thereafter; if you drop the monthly and later go back, you have to pay the 2K again to be re-evaluated)  2)  since the majority of past participants remain on the program, I am concerned about being on hormones the rest of my life, and 3) they can provide me no references to talk to now (just what is in the book).

I've never had my hormone levels checked; I am anxious to do that.  The supplements are all available on the website, so I am kind of hoping my family doctor may run with the program.  I am also going for a consultation next week with a gyn that will do bio. hormones (covered by insurance).  Another opinion!

I'm 51 (my current gyn says the average age of menopause is 52.5; I can't wait).  I didn't realize I was a migraneur until 3.5 years ago, when the migraines started, along with the CDH's (they haven't stopped yet).  With another year or two to go(and things getting worse) til I reach menopause, I still want to continue new things (I've tried alot!!)

I am anxious to hear all you have to share.  Thanks for having me.  Marianne

Thanks for sharing all that Marianne.  I liked the book alot too.  I thought it made alot of good sense.  I like to hear from others because sometimes I am afraid that I am too open to these kinds of things that everyone else seems to think are crazy!

I just ordered another book for my primary care doctor too. (in case anyone is interested you can get them on amazon for a bit cheaper).  I have been researching this and reading alot on bioidentical hormone replacement for awhile now and my doctor knows this so she was fine with ordering the blood tests for this program.  And prescribing the hormones that Dr. Dzugan recommended since.  I received all the supplements so I am just waiting on the hormones.  (I get them from a compounding pharmacy that a BHRT gynocologist that I used to go to recommended, so they have to get sent to me).

I appreciate what you said regarding your reservations.  The money is a big deal.  I decided to spend it only because I have tried going through a BHRT doctor (who also cost alot of money!) and although it helped some at first I could see it was going to be a long time figuring out what would work for me, if ever.  (we were only working with estrogen, progesterone and testosterone).  I like the idea of fixing all the areas that Dr. Dzugan speaks of...not just the steroid hormones, but the magnesium/calcium balance and also fixing the pineal gland and digestive tract.  I am confused a little too, about the $100 a month thereafter and if you drop the monthly and go back, starting over with the high cost.

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago from someone who was enthusiastic about this program and they were posting alot of links and also all the titles of the chapters of the book. I think that must have been like advertizing, or a copyright problem because shortly thereafter the whole thread disappeared.  Before it did though, someone else came on and said that she was the woman who had written the book with Dr. Dzugan!  She said a few interesting things but one was that in the process of writing the book she had spoken with some of the folks who the treatment had worked for.  Maybe she will come back sometime and tell us more.  That would be interesing!

It is interesting that you started with the migraines only a few years ago.  I have had them my whole life.  I am in my early 50's too and in menopause.  I hope that your doctor will be positive and help you.  My primary care doctor was open to having Dr. Dzugan give his recommendations for me because of being very new to this.  She is watching me closely though and monitoring my liver.

Sorry I wrote a book!  Keep us posted. :)

Jeannemarie - hello, haven't heard from you in a while.  Where are you in process of doing The Migraine Cure?  I am anxious to get some feedback from you on the program.

I meet with my family doctor tomorrow to talk about this, among other things.  I still have some reservations about starting up again with the hormones.

Last I looked at the site, I got lost in the forums and ended up going to a website that I had visited before, .  I've read the entire website, decided to give the supplement a try (Christian Body Migraine Defense).  I'm not yet 2 weeks into the program, and have also had some personal crises in my life, so am not able to make a good assessment yet on the product.

Hoping to hear some good news from you.  Marianne

cool I have very good news. I have tried Dr. Dzugan's treatement and am very happy with the results. I have had migraines for 17 years, my migraines averaged 10 days a month. I have tried all sorts of prophylactics. before this treatment I was on 3 antidepressants, one calcium channel blocker one beta blocker and a diuretic simultaneously. they all helped but not enough obviously. This is the only treatment that worked for me. I have only been one  month into the treatment but already I have stopped the beta blocker, the calcium channel blocker, and I have reduced my antidepressant intake. All this without one single migraine.

If anyone is interested in this program, take the time to read Dr. Dzugan's book and talk to a representative.  I am 35 and consider myself a health enthusiast, but lately I have been feeling like I am 45.  After being on the Dzugan program I am in better spirits, have more energy, do not have severe PMS symptoms or migranes and generally look better.  I have talked to many doctors about this program and hormone replacement is on the cutting edge of preventative medical care and restoration.  You can just take hormones and have some relief, but with this program you have a list of supplements specific to your needs and 24 hour customer service care to boot.  Dzugan has changed my life.

I would love to hear if anyone else is trying this.  I have been on the program for 4 months now but am not seeing results yet.  The women I talked to before signing up just raved about the results and I don't know if I'm a freak or what.

I came to Dr. Dzugan after 3 years of disablily migraines with no help from 7 different dr. including gp's, neurologists, chiropractors, homeopathics, MDs, DOs, you name it.  I have a Phd but have been unable to work for over 3 years.  I have a 14 year old son that takes care of me more than I take care of him.  We just moved and I feel very isolated and desperate so I thought maybe I could find others that would understand my pain (phyisical and emotional).

Dear Desperate 843 -
I got my headache on August 30th, 2008 (I still don't know if it is a headache or migraine). I know it has only been 1 year, but it has been 1 year of a CONSTANT headache. I have not yet had 1 single day of relief yet. Not one medication has given me relief or hope. I have seen so many doctors (neurologists, ENT's, allergists, TMJ specialists, opthalmologists, etc.). I have been admitted 4 times, even once to the Cleveland Clinic for being in so much pain. I had a pretty good career that just blew away in the wind. I just sit at home all day everyday hoping one day I will wake up from this nightmare. I am 31 years old and I feel like my life is over. I used to have fun. My husband and I used to take vacations. We were talking about getting ready to start a family before this "monster" took over my life one day out of the blue. My whole body is starting to feel bad and I'm sure it's because I don't do anything, but it's hard to, it's hard to get out and do anything when your head pounds CONSTANTLY.

It's nice to talk to people that understand.

I don't believe it for a minute. Seriously, I feel like if there were a "cure" for migraines this website wouldn't be necessary (along with multibillion dollar pharmaceutical industry with migraine treatments)

With that said if you propose one thing to fix an array of symptoms it might work for one or two people out of sheer coincidence or placebo affect.

..that's just my two cents :-)

I got to know about this program just now and I will go through the book as and when I get chance but has everyone noticed here, those who posted positively, they are 'new' members. I am bit concerned.

Yes, I've been reading this thread and I also picked up on that.  Sometimes a new member pops up with an old thread (or makes a new one) and asks a question about a product or protocol and then another new member pops up and answers the question - all with a thinly veiled purpose of pushing a certain agenda or product.  These are always red flags to us, so I hope others reading this realize that these new members' sole purpose for coming on here is to advertise, in my opinion.  Too coincidental and worthy of being deleted.

Honestly, with migraines and head pain people get very depserate (for lack of a better term) to find an answer..so I feel like yes, sometimes these people are just jumping at any chance for relief OR maybe they really are just new to the "game" and think it will work.

If we quit posting on this it will fall back to its place (at the bottom) cool

I tried The Migraine Cure, and it was the best money I ever spent! Dr. Dzugan is brilliant! I spent 15+ years, suffering with 25-30 migraines/month. Now, after almost 3 years on his program, I get 0-2/month. A bunch of other symptoms went away, too, like anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, hair loss, stomach aches and gyno. problems. It's all about the hormones!

I have used the Dzugan method and used to volunteer for the group for years. It is very expensive and isn't anything that a local doctor can't help you with. My OB's RN helped me through a vitamin and bio identical hormone therapy that helped me leaps and bounds beyond the Dzugan method at a fraction of the cost. I took calls for the group and found that very few people were happy with the results. Futhermore, the group has judgments against them for not repaying investors and the CEO is under SEC investigation. When they needed money, I put up 35k of my own money that has not been paid back even after a judgment was awarded to me. This is not an honorable group of people and their objective is not to help people. My advice, find a local doctor that is familiar with bio identical hormone treatment and has a good reputation. If you are curious about pending lawsuits and judgments, check out the Rip Off Reports online. It breaks my heart that people are still spending thousands of dollars online with this group that should have their license banned.
