Hi, I was wondering if anyone has gone to the Mayo (preferably Rochester) or Cleveland (Ohio) Clinics. I haven't been feeling well lately and my high bp doc feels that it is time for me to travel to one of these places. He has the contacts in neurology to make the immediate arrangements, he is just waiting for the go ahead from my husband and I. I'm not overly familiar with either one of these clinics and the distance is not a factor and the cost is the same for me. He told me to make the decision as to which I would rather go to.
The reason behind this is the questioning of my health and the diagnosis: I had an MRI/MRA recently which had results that are consistent with a stroke, it is probably what I am battling now! However, he is not a neuro and cannot dx/treat me for this, so I need to get this taken care of--plus I have the migraine dx of stroke like migraines. I have uncontrolled high bp despite repeated meds and combinations-I have heart damage from my high bp. My skin does this weird mottle thing and is often very cold to the touch, usually only on right side of body (weak side). I have chronic UTI's, so I am being put on a permanent antibiotic. Confirmed arthritis is my knees through x-rays. I have many other bizzare symptoms and have been diagnosed with so many things in the last 8 months it would make your head spin (basically I wrote off all docs except my headache specialist and my bp doc--the bp doc I have seen for a long time)...
My first episode was originally ruled many different things depending on who I saw, with big explanations of the docs reasonings, I continued to search for the appropriate diagnosis and that it how I landed the migraine diagnosis, seemed the most legitimate to me.
I'm just not sure anymore, I definently have migraines--no doubt there, but are they the root, there is no definitive test! Here are results, but on the other hand do I have both and are my migraines causing the strokes?
I'm sorry this is so long, I'm not a complainer and this is how this sounds I know--I've tried not to make it sound like that. I don't even want to go to one of the clinics-I just don't want to start again, I'm tired of the medical crap, but I know this time I need to go. I've blown off so much and yes it may be all related like the bp doc says, but I just don't want to know! I just wish someone knew--as I've been told over and over "YOU'RE TOO YOUNG TOO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS"..
Thanks and Take Care!
