Has anyone experienced this?  I am 34 and have had MHA's since age 12.  Each time I have a migraine during the night, I am unable to wake up and get my medication which is located only a few feet away.  We all know that if you wake up with a migraine, chances are you will have it for several hours and your entire day is wasted.  I will dream and think about getting up to get my medication, but for some reason, cannot get myself out of the bed to do so.  I can get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and also if I am thirsty, so what gives??? My mother has had migraines all her life and also experiences this.  Does anyone know why??

Hello,

Welcome to Healing Well massajenn.

How often do you experience migraines during the night? Do you have any symptoms before you go to sleep? Do you generally know when you're going to wake up with a migraine? I only ask because if you are aware, could you take something for your migraine before you go to bed? Or set an alarm to wake you up?

If the migraines occur with regularity, like during your cycle, on Sunday nights - then you could set an alarm to wake you up on those nights to take something.

You could also try positive affirmations. Before you go to sleep saying to yourself over and over that you will wake up if you get a headache.

Just a couple of thoughts. Hope these help. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
