What are some of the other syptoms you get along with migraine?

Sometimes I get certain things like stomach problems & anxiety right before a migraine.

I have woken up anxious in the middle of the night and than had a migraine that morning. Plus a bunch of other stuff that I didn't consider part of the migraine but I am starting too,

here's my list:
dizziness (before & during)
insomnia (after the pain starts)
left arm & hand shakes (before)
visions disturbances(before)
nasuea (before & during)
extreme fatigue (during & after)
stomach problems (before & during)
anxiety (before)
food cravings (sometime)
loss of balance (before & during)
feeling of being off like I am drunk (before during after)
slurred speach (before & during)
sensitivty to light & noise (during)
car sickness (duing)
my aura hase is 1-2 days.

How about you guys or am I just weird.

you're definately not alone! i experience dizziness, insomnia (i have awful bags under my eyes!), shakes, nausea, stomach problems, sensitivity to light and noise, and car sickness!! ooh and i definately suffer from anxiety. but everyone's migraine is unique -- which is partly why migraines are so hard to diagnose. =/ sucks, i know. but it sounds like your symptoms are pretty normal migraine-wise!

:)

I get super emtional as well. I can't tell if it is the migraine itself or the pain killers.

And I only get anxiety around my migraines. No other time

Hello hotgurl,

Welcome to Healing Well. You have a very comprehensive list of the migraine symptoms, unfortunately confused . I also get very cold extremities (hands and feet), which is how I usually confirm I have a full blown migraine. I also experience a narrowing of my vision so that I can't see out of the eye which is affected.

You're definitely not weird. Migraines can take many different forms, depending on the person. I know I have felt like I was dying on many occassions and headed to the doctor just to be told it was a migraine.

I get very emotional and have chalked that up to the fact that I experience a lot of migraines, sometimes everyday. I worry about getting one when I'm out and what I am going to do. I deal with this by making sure I have sufficient medication with me to treat a migraine that might come on. I also use biofeedback to help me maintain calm which can help minimize the pain.

I hope this helps.

You are not weird!!!

I get REALLY upset... anxiety like you said. Get mad very easily at anyone around me. Along with the anxiety kind of like when animals or children get kind of ansty when the weather is going to get bad, thats me before a migraine. I act all kooky and weird. Loud and obnoxious. Like you said, drunk. :)

biofeedback... is a relaxation technique. It works well for those who are good with visualizing and are imaginative... unfortunately Im not and I didnt find it any help. I had to go to the office for therapy, and then do the relaxation at home. I was never able to do this, relax or visualize anything. I have heard that it helps alot of people.

I get a lot of those symptoms as well the off balance and the dizziness like I just want to put my head down and I cannot stand smells like perfume or cleaning agents I feel cold hands and feet and it is hard to think and especially after the headache my head feels numb like I was boxing and my head has been through trauma. Many times someone can sit in my office with perfume on and if it is strong it will make my head hurt so I tell people up front that that I do not handle strong smells due to migraines. It makes me want to vomit. Usually I get the pain in one eye and it feels like my eyeball is about to explode outside my head.

Biofeedback never really worked for me has it worked for anyone else?

I get a pretty big variety of symptoms too, sometimes it just depends on the severity of the migraine.

My typical ones are:

dizziness
aura (everything gets weird and shimmery. Might actually be kinda fun if there wasnt' so much pain involved!)
nausea (vomiting if it's a bad one)
numbness in face/jaw
numbness extending down my left arm
if it's a really bad one, my left leg also begins to go numb
difficulty using my left arm
difficulty speaking/slurring words/words reversals
sensitivity to light and noise

I'm pretty emotional during, but I don't know if that's just because it hurts so darned much! Afterwards I always feel extremely fatigued.

So far my doctor (well the PA, since I can never get in to see the doctor) has told me that I simply can't be having those symptoms (basically, I must be exaggerating or making things up) and that I need to just move on with life and deal with it and take some advil sad

The few things I've tried have come from visits to Patient First ( a walk in kind of promptcare clinic, useful, but you never see the same doc twice, it's just whoever happens to be working that day), where at least they make an attempt. Unfortunately, fioricet and compazine just haven't been cutting it. I tried Imitrex, but my asthma --really-- didn't like it.

Right now, I'm open to just about anything. And yes, I'm looking for a different doctor that takes my insurance.

I know this probably sounds bad, but I feel better knowing that I'm not the only person that gets more than just the "aura/pain/nausea" and that the PA is wrong.
