I have had migraines now for almost 7 yrs. They originaly started after being exposed to mold in a house we were living in. Over the last 2 yrs they have become uncontrollable. I have seen several headache specialists and tried everything from triptans, MAOI,anti-sezuire meds and tricyclic antidepressants.Currrently I am taking verapamal as a preventative and use IM injections of Benedryl and visteral as an abortive. As a last result I go to the Er for pain shot of Dilaudid, Benedryl  and Zofran which usually helps.During the last two years I have been getting very big dark circles under my eyes - almost like a racoon face. When they appear the migraine always follow. Does anyone else get these large circles? Does anyone know what they are from?

I do not necessarily get racoon eyes, but I look awful.  My last migraine it was the morning and I was in the drive through at Starbucks and I looked in my rearview mirror at a glance and I looked awful.  Glassy eye, sacks under my eyes, redness.  I thought "On my God I look like crap.  Wonder what's up with that?" and not more than 2 minutes later I started with the migraine aura, so I think there is something to that.

I always have a bit of dark circle...After a migraine it is always worse. I have no idea what the medical cause is...I know that it is not attractive!!! (and it makes you feel worse because you look rough!)

Just know that you are not alone with the "raccoon face" and migraines!
