Hi everyone...

I have been on Verapamil for about 8 months now for my Migraines and the past two months they have started coming back... I get them twice a week at least...

I talked to my doctor about Topamax and he told me about the possible side affects...

My question is for those of you on Topamax...

Are the side affects really all that bad, or is it worth it to just deal with them?

The weight loss wouldn't really bother me b/c it wouldn't hurt to loose a few pounds! tongue

Thanks!

Hi Krystle,

Welcome to Healing Well. Sorry to hear you are suffering again. As I am sure your Doctor has told you for some Topamax works well but not for all. My experience so far is that I actually don't like the drug as I feel supressed and tired all the time, and after 5 days straight of attacks I would question if it is working???!!!

The only thing I would say for me is that I know my abortive would not work without the Topamax so it must be doing something positive!!!! Yes, I do the the tingling in my hand etc but hey ho what's that to be pain free??!! I have been taking Topamax since a few days before Christmas so it's not long to go on and I have only just gone up to 75mg so am not on a very high dose yet, so I am prepared to give it some time yet!

Just my two cents!!

take care

Ann
