Good evening,

I'm new here-- I was referred by another migraine sufferer. I've only suffered from migraines for a couple of years now, but they do run in my family. (my mother gets them, as does my grandmother and my aunt)

My typical symptoms are pain beginning at the back of the head (left side) right where the head and neck meet, it then radiates upward and to my eye, and down, including my jaw. If it continues to get worse, my left side goes numb-- jaw, arm and leg) The pain gets unbearable-- you know, the "please shoot me now, I can't take any more" type. Honestly, if I had a choice of breaking a bone or getting a bad migraine-- I'd break a bone. It hurts less. (I've broken several bones, so I DO know how it feels) I also get aura (with pain, usually not before), and if it is a bad one, nausea and vomiting.

The other week, I was struggling with a bad headache at work. I had actually been fighting it for about a week, but it just kept getting incrementally worse. By the end of the day one day, I couldn't see out of my right eye. At all.

I've never had that happen, and it really kind of freaked me out. Very strange-- as if my eye was "unplugged". This was with the rest of the other "bad migraine" symptoms: severe pain, numbness, nausea. Somehow I did manage to drive home. Eventually, it subsided a bit and my sight came back after a few hours.

Has anyone had a sudden change in migraine symptoms like that?

Hey lothianjavert,
Welcome to the Migraine board.  You can find a wealth of knowledge and support here from our members.  Personally, I've had Migraine attacks for 33+ years, so I'm pretty well versed on most symptoms and medications, although I am not a medical professional.
From your post, it sounds like you have some serious neurological issues, not just migraines.  You need to seek immediate attention from your doctor.  The length of time this problem has gone on, and the severe eye problems are clues that should be addressed right away.
Anytime you have a health problem that effects you in such a serious manner, it should be addressed as soon as possibly.  Like today, not when you can get fit in to some doctor's appointment scheduled three weeks from now.  With the vision problems and pain you are experiencing, if I were you, I would be heading straight to the ER, and seek immediate attention.
Pain is a warning sign.  It tells you something is wrong, and the worse the pain, the sooner you should seek treatment for it.
Please let us know how you are doing.
