Does anyone use ice packs on the head for acute attacks?  This seems to help my husband but is there anything else for acute attacks?  His neurologist won't give him anything but preventative meds.
Thanks, Rhoda

Yes, as a matter of fact, I have an ice pack on the back of my neck right now. I've been taking medication all day and it's just not getting any better so I resorted to the ice pack tonight. That has started to help a little... Now if the swelling at the base of my neck would just go down, I would be able to lay my head down.....

Does the ice pack work better on the back of the neck?  My husband always wants it on top of his head as that is where the pain is.  I have bought two of the ice packs that wrap around his head like a headband and this seems to help.

I have the best ice pack, it is made for the head, it has velcro so you can wrap it around the head and leave it (you don't have tired arms from holding one up there!) and you can do it nice and tight for some pressure if that helps. Let me get the name and a website where you can purchase if you'd like. I think I paid about $13 dollars for it. It was a bit difficult to find in stores (I went looking for a second one!)
