Just wondered if any one out there has had this problem also, as I have suffered from hemiplegic migraines from around the age of 15, and ocd from being a small child. Some one mentioned a link between serotonin levels and ocd and my doctors tell me that low serotonin is the most likely cause of my migraines and stuck me on beta blockers to help reduce the frequency of the attacks. i don’t really want to talk to my doctor about my ocd as some of my symptoms are embarrassing beyond belief but they cant diagnose on paper or suggest forms of relief for my ocd without knowing what my symptoms are first! Lol any imput on the subject would be much appreciated before i humiliate myself to my doctor!

That is an interesting question as I also suffer from migraines and OCD. I'd be interested in finding if there is a connection.

For now, I work hard at breaking my OCD habits and taking herbal suppliments to keep migraines away.

OCD here as well, I do a lot of things that are OCD-"ish" I count things, I wash a lot, I have to put everything in a certain place, afraid/compulsions about some things, there are a few odd things, something that I don't feel are too severe. I check to make sure the door is locked more than I "should" I check the oven and appliances to make sure that they are off more than a "normal" person would...but I think I manage mine rather well NOW without any specific medication/treatment.

So, I don't think that it would be far off to think that there could be a connection with migraine and OCD.

We've already seen a connection with migraine and things like depression, anxiety, TMJ, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, fibromyalgia I am sure I missed half the list there...but you get the point?

I would at least mention it, who says you have to go into complete detail about the details and specifics of your OCD until you feel the DR out and see what the response is from him/her...you don't have to tell them that everytime you drive over a speed bump you think you've run someone over and have to drive back and check to make sure ir wasn't a person (I heard that story about a person with OCD and every once in a while it crosses the back of my mind after hitting a bump or pothole!)

I also suffer from migraines and have OCD. Tysmyboo, I have very simular compulsions as you. I too overcheck the security of doors, and have broken countless locks by doing this cause I shake the door to make sure it's locked more than once. The overwashing and appliance checking I've had for years, can take me a good half hour checking appliances or turned off before I get to bed. So I think it would be definetely be worth a mention to your doctor and hear his opinion.

Hi   New to the boards and new to these daily headaches. I am using a splint now from my dentist. Was working great and now today, pain, all day. Facial as well as headache. Wondering if you all have facial pain as well ??? OCD's are funny aren't they. I was drawn to this letter because I am an OCD specialist. Not in training but how I live my life, LOL. I think we could use some friendly support for this , so if we want to chat about it honestly let me know. God bless you all,  Oakley
