I haven't had a migraine in quite a while. I used to have them almost daily for years and now I have them once in a blue moon. I've had migraines since I was about 8 years old.

Normally, I have them on my left side, sometimes I'll have ocular migraines (left side), most times just the regular kind for me.

This morning, I noticed the "twinkling" lights in my RIGHT eye. The aura wasn't as pronounced as it usually is on the left side, nothing hurt at the time, and it was gone within 20 minutes (like normal).

My head started to hurt (left side) shortly after the aura in my right eye finished. Very strange.

Should this be something I need to bring to my doctor's attention? I appreciate your comments.

Hi Starrnr,

Yes, migraines do evolve over time, and they can change sides and, or, go from side to side. All changes of this nature are well worth noting and passing on to your Doctor.

Try not to worry, these sorts of changes can be somewhat disturbing when they first happen! However, as always if you are concerned, do talk to your Doctor as soon as you have the opportunity!

take care

Hi Ann -- thanks for responding. I feel better knowing that they do change...I was just rather taken aback this morning, no panic though. I've had a 'dull' migraine all day, but I'm ok.

I'll bring it up with my doctor if it happens again.

Thanks again,

~S.

yes, mine have changed quite a bit over time, I was concerned about it until speaking to my specialist. She said that everything was ok. Something that I did notice is that after the initial concern, I almost appreciated the change, as mine had always been on the right side and it got terribly painful. It was almost like a bit of relief just to have the pain elsewhere...

Just an observation
