Just signed on to this forum. I have had severe migraine in the past three days (low-pressure system) and I go to the doctor tomorrow. He has already told me he wants to treat it "naturally" and I don't want to deal with that. I have had them for almost 30 years on and off and I have twin toddlers and cannot afford in that regard to try this med or that dose. He makes me feel like such a pill-seeker b/c all I want to do is treat it with fiorinal etc.
Anyway, all advice and suggestions welcome.  (I have tried other meds -- to no good end -- i.e. Topomax sent me into kidney failure and the ICU for three days...)
Angi, I saw your earlier message about PCOS. You need iodine therapy. Cysts in the breasts, ovaries, or uterus are almost always symptoms of iodine deficiency. I recommend that you go to the site and look up the Iodine Support forum and do some research and get on the protocol set forth on a.s.a.p. Same is true for people with thyroid issues. Doing the research has been shocking to me -- we are pretty much all deficient, and it's essential for virtually all bodily functions, so you will never begin to heal until you have adequate stores of iodine.
Good luck to all and I am grateful to find others who understand about migraine. I cannot believe how much I dread the summer with all of its storms now. :(

Hi Laura:  Welcome.  I am fairly new here also.  I just want you to know that I understand what you are going through.  My migraines seem to happen only because of weather.  I still can't figure out if they happen when the pressure is high or low but it mainly seems that it is just any change in the barometric pressure (flying does the same thing to me).  I have been fortunate in finding a neurologist who has been great in helping; however, I am sure that at some point he will get frustrated at just helping me medicate myself to keep the migraines at bay instead of being able to "fix" me.  I believe he truly thinks that he can eventually "cure" me with some preventitive but after reading all that I have on this site, I am not convinced he will.  I still think positive and have much hope.  I would love if I could take my preventitives (Verapamil and Trileptal) every day and never need another thing for pain.  That is my goal!  But, I also hope that he will not give up on me after awile if those preventitves do not work 100% of the time.
Good luck to you and if you find any more information on the weather affecting us, please send it along.
