Hi I am 25 years old and for the past year have been getting severe headaches after and during my period.

I have seen the doctor and had a blood test that revealed I was slightly anemic, After taking a dose of iron for a while the tests then revealed that this was now OK.

At first I put that down to my headaches but have still been suffering since.

It is a severe pain in the front and sometimes all over my head and noises go through me like a knife when I have the head pain or when it is starting.

But a month back my ear felt funny, like when I tilt my head it all moves inside like the sensation when you ear "pops" but without it actually doing that, (If that makes sense?) The ear feeling would linger for a couple of days then BANG my headache would strike lasting days and nothing would shift it, I tried co codamol, ibuprofen, paracetamol but nothing took effect.

The chemist advised me to try migraleve and I have taken my first dose of pink tablets today when I noticed my head and ear symptoms.

Is it possible the ear feeling is linked? it has happened a few times now before my head ache but cant work out why?

It is awful though as going out in the car sets my head off, walking up and down the stairs (as we have a flat) makes it thud and when I wake with head pain it is even harder for me to shift it and it will go on for days :(

Does this sound like migraines to you? my sister, aunt and mum suffer from migraines, my sisters started when she was about this age, I am hoping I wont be like them but now I am not so sure.

Thanks xxx

Hi Kaytee,

Welcome to Healing Well. Sorry to hear about what you are going through with the headaches. It is a fact that Migraine does run in families and if your Mum and sister have had it, there is a strong chance you may have it too!!!

From what you have said it does sound like Migraine, the only thing that bothers me is the ear side of it, have you told your Doctor about this? If not you should!

I would also point out that we do not have any medical training here to diagnose we are all sufferers and can only speak from our own experiences!

Did the pink Migraleve help you? Please let us know how you get on with that! Talk to your Doctor about the 'triptans', they are a group of drugs specifically for migraine that act on the cause of the pain - they reduce the swelling of the blood vessels in your head that cause the pain, they are not a painkiller as such.

Hope this helps, take care

Ann
