Has anyone tried this? I just talked with a Physical Therapist which I start seeing tomorrow. They are suggesting me to try water therapy. It sounds like it's a good idea?

Just wondering about other's input on this.. Thanks

From everything I've read, water therapy seems like an excellent way to exercise...with these cautions..

make sure the water is cool enough. Many pools are way too hot, and it's easy to get overheated.  Some therapists know this and arrange to have classes either in cool pools, or in pools first thing in the morning, before they get heated up!

Make sure the therapist knows about people with MS and what you can and can't do.

Finally --for me, going into a pool would be an exercise in learning how to survive with all that WATER around!!!!!  Yikes!!!!  But if you're not afraid of the water tongue   it should be great!

Hey Tertle,
It was my favorite thing to do before i was diagnosed, however, the heat in the pool really drained me and that is why i had to stop. Our local YMCA kept the pool way to warm and humid in there for me. Just be careful with that.
Take care,
Lynn

Yea that's one thing I was just thinking about, I think the PT said something about a cool water pool.... I don't really mind water but one thing that sucks is , who likes to jump into a cold pool........not me really, especially after coming out of the cold outside. but I know what warm or hot water will do over time so we'll see, I go today to the Princeton Club for PT, I doubt they will be putting me in a pool on my first visit...

Hi Barb, I am taking a generic Ambien. I don't like them though, I seem to pass out fast but then wake up within a couple hours and I'm wide awake.

The muscle relaxers seem to knock me out pretty good to. but not for to long. I don't know what to do, maybe I'll just fall out from being overtired..

Oh, i just got back from my first PT appoitment, it went pretty good. I have a really nice guy who seems to know what he's doing.

He told me that my right leg was really tight and looked weak. He gave me some streches and balance excersises to do. I feel good about it, I think this is going to help me get strength and feeling back. He also said within a few weeks he wants to get into the pool... talk to you later.
