Hi, I am a newbie to this site.  I was recently diagnosed with MS and I have been experiencing many symptoms.  I am in the middle of a flare right now with nerve pain in my leg and back.
Welcome to HW.  I am very sorry that I had to delete your other thread.  Administration does not allow discussions on that subject.  I do want you to feel free to ask questions and to post but you may want to read the rules of this forum.  They are in the side bar under forum links.

I am very sorry to hear that you are in a flare.  Hang in there and feel better soon.  What does your doctor suggest for releif??? Are doing solumedrol to shorten the duration of discomfort?

Im sorry, I didn't know that we couldn't discuss that topic.  It's a shame, I really wanted to know what people thought about it.  I am not taking anything now besides the Neurontin.  My neurologist diagnosed me and I am waiting to see a MS specialist in September.  I am hoping when I go there he can suggest another method of relief.

I am sorry about that.  Feel free to email me (my email address is in my profile - just click on my name).  Again, please feel welcome to ask any other questions you may have.  Are you thinking about starting a progression therapy??  There are other drugs that can help with symptoms - be sure and talk to your doctor.   It is a bummer that the neurontin is not working for you.  September is a long time to wait.  Is there no one to see prior to that for some symptom relief??  Is there a PC in the picture??  My PC writes scripts for most of my symptom meds (klonopin, baclofen, adderall).

Seriously, good luck with finding some help with your symptoms.  September is too long to wait.

Love and prayers,

I agree with Gretchen...September is too long to wait. Can't you call your neurologist back and tell him that the neurotin isn't working? How long have you been on it..sometimes these things take awhile to show relief, and sometimes it's a matter of increasing the dosage or taking it at different times to make it effective. And sometimes it doesn't work when another medication can.

Why are you visiting the MS specialist in September? Is there some question about your diagnosis? Otherwise, seems like your current neuro could start you on one of the disease-modifying drugs now, and work with you to find pain relief.

I think if I were in your position, I'd be on the phone and back to visit him..or your primary care physician, as Gretchen suggested.

...I am not a doctor, nor health professional, and don't pretend to be one, here.....

Hey Multiple!

Welcome to the board! As Sunny said, Gretchen and Uppity have given u some great advice. September is a long way away...if u can see u'r reg neuro or pcp sooner it'd be a great idea. Either of those docs would be able to help u in symptom relief and selecting one of the disease modifying drugs (CRAB's). Take care and feel free to post any questions u may have! Again, welcome to the board!
