Hello everyone!
I was in this group before heading over to the fibromyalgia group. I kept my appt.'s for various tests for my Neurologist Dr. The last one took 2 cancelations to get done (babysitting problems) so I got this phone call from his secretary today and she said he wants to schedule a 24 hr. halter EEG. I asked "why?" and she said "I take it he didn't call you?" "No, I said". I informed her that I am taking melatonin for insomnia and vitamin B12 injections for my nerves. I said the Doc should know this stuff before ordering the test. I just hadn't put much stock in this Dr. since he had written me off as 'nuts'. What could this 24 hr test be for? Is he checking for MS? or seizures? I just haven't a clue. The only symptom I have that may be related is my "spacey" feeling. I thought it was just an extension of brain fog! I will start to just stare into space for a minute and then it will just go away. And BTW, the holistic Dr. also ordered a bunch of tests. Lyme disease and thryroid panels; and adrenal gland compounds.
I guess I will just have to wait and see.

One of my sons had an EEG test, but in office, and they were looking for seizures. Haven't heard of the test for MS. I hadn't heard of a halter EEG either, but have had a halter EKG. I think that's right. EEG is brain and EKG is heart if I'm remembering right. Sorry not more helpful. Good luck with all your tests, I know waiting is tough.

I called my Neurologist today and I'm waiting for a call back. I would like to know why he is ordering a 24 hour EEG?

I got the call back and the Dr. said that my EEG showed brain wave "irritation" and that it indicated possible seizure activities. Not sure where this is all going but at least I know why he ordered the 24 hr test. Maybe they can check out how well I sleep at night with this unit on me?

Hey Carolyn

Wow...seizures and brain wave 'irritation'. How soon do u see this doc and get an explaination for this test??? Have u ever had a sleep study done?? That'd be where they try figure out what is going on with u'r sleep patterns and hopefully see if there's a connection between these two situations. Could the 'spacing out' be due to the lack of solid sleep patterns?? Ok, just tossing things out here...but it's just all got to be connected somehow. Best wishes and please let us know what u find out.
