Hi everyone. Here is my story. I recently lost the ability to void and have to self catherizize everyday. The suspicion for MS came to my neuro's mind and he ordered an MRI of brain and entire spince. A questioable plaque showed up in the left white matter of my brain. I had a spinal tap while I was admitted to the hospital.

Unfortuantley, my neuro went to India for the month and I got the results from my primary. I have a negative result on the oligo bands and Igg but have an elevated Myelin Band Protein. I have other symptoms of MS which include numbness and tingling of feet along with pain in the legs and concentration problems. Does this elevated protein in the absense of the other two mean that I could possibly have MS?It does run in my family and again, my bladder has not worked  since 6/19/08. Any prompt help would be appreciated and God bless.

Kim,
I am sorry I wish I could help you, but I think you need to ask the neuro that is covering you neuro's practice while your neuro is in india.

Hey Kim
They're right here... the neuro's gonna have to tell ya if that tells you anything because I can tell you from experience I had the same kind of results but it was from the viral meningitis I was in the hospital for. Now with that said, only the neuro can read all the rest of the results to figure it out... I remember reading my results before my neuro and thinking I had it all figured out that they'd overlooked the MS back then and I really had a horrid flare not meningitis and he gave me a short lesson in labs on spinal fluid being like a puzzle to work together and I was way off base. So don't drive yourself too crazy, let him earn his big bucks for ya! In the meantime, hope you get some answers and relief when he gets back.

Thank you for your replies. Unfortunately, my doctor is in a practice alone and the docotr covering only covers emergencies. I have an appointment for 9/22. This wait is killing me cry
