Hi everyone i am new to this site. I have been dealing with pain in my legs and arms and fingers, and also vertigo. I had a MRI recently that stated i had a number of Multiple punctate foci of hyperintense foci flair singal in the subcortical cerebral white matter. and that Differential includes Demyelinating Disease, Lyme Disease, CNS Vasculitis. What does that all mean. I have an appointment with my neuro tomorrow and i just dont know what questions to ask. Does anyone have any advice for me. Could it really be MS?

What kind of pains have you been having? Any other symptoms? I am not sure what all that means but it sounds like they may be ruling in lyme?

Yes, you could have MS.  Demyelinating disease inludes MS.  What the report is saying is that you might have demyelinating disease (which could inlcude MS), lyme disease, or vasculitis of the central nervous system.  The report is saying that you have brain lesions that appear like ones seen in those diseases. MRIs indicate lesions but it does not tell why those lesions are there. I know you are scared.  Try to just breathe and see what the doctor says.  The doctor will be looking for reflexes and and reponses that indicate MS.

Most of us with MS have had the MRI (with lesions showing), and then a lumbar puncture that indicates oligoclonal bands, and then there is evoked potentials.  Evoked potential is a test that indicates a delay along the central nervous system.

Please try not to panic here.  It is a very scary thing to have an MRI that indicates lesions.  See what the doctor says.  We are right here for quesitons and support.  Please post and let us know what the doc says and how you are doing.
