saw neuro yesterday at jefferson hosp. in philly. he noted that my left leg is weaker. also did the
sticking needles thing and had severe pain when he tried it on my ms leg. looks like it is time to
progress to the walker. have been having deep depression since my fall last week. so he has
added adderal to my meds to maybe wake me up. been sleeping about 11 hours nightly. has
anyone used this? also saw in paper a story about hypnosis and it said that it has been used for
ms depression. maybe i will pursue that as well. have been having a lot of pain and weakness in
my ms leg. barely made it back to the train yesterday in the cold/windy weather.

pain med he had me on interacts with antidepressant, so don't have anything to help with the
scraping i feel in ms leg. feeling somewhat low and want to hide in the apt. trouble is i'm not
getting anything done. been forgetting even basic pet care. help???? linda

Oh Linda!

This is not good!  You need some help right now with this.  I am so glad you talked to your doctor.  The hypnosis sounds really cool actually.  I would definitely give that a try.  I take adderall.  I do not take if for depression.  I take it for cognitive processing and mental alertness.  I love it!!!  I started out using "as needed".  That turned into "everyday" lol.  It really helps me function.  I take it even on weekends now.  I just feel better being able to think clearly.  The adderall even helps with my chronic vertigo.

My PCP got me the adderall.  My neuro offered me provigil.  I have never tried that because the adderall works real well for me.  If the adderall does not work for you, ask about provigil or other psycho-stimulants.

thank you thank you for the feedback on adderall... kind of scary med. yes, he gave it to me for cogitive troubles plus short term memory stuff and energy in general. your reassurance is most welcome. also, made appt. w/hypnotherapist in a couple of weeks to work on stress & depression from ms. will try the adderall in the meantime.

neuro didn't say i had to use walker, so will continue on cane. there's a place near me that recycles medical equipment (your resource) and may stop there to get a bag/shelf for my existing walker. no sense going upscale on walker at this time. may take it to visit mother in nursing home... take the therakeet and he often jumps off my shoulder and i have to lean down to fetch him. would work for that and also doing various tasks that require me bending.

okay... case in point... began letter, switched to mother monetary thing, came in here to do bird care.... looking forward to maybe being somewhat on one topic! back to square one! linda

I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time right now, Linda. I hope the adderall gives you some relief. Hang in there, okay?

Dear Linda:

I remember the days...felling how you feel.....but...you know what?

It is YOU is holding yourself back....

I have gone from cane...to walker....now motorized wheelchair.  In the last 5 years.

Now, I have no chance of falling....my  fatigue is less.

You know what?  People admire you for keeping the good fight.

last night had some horrible cramping in toes of both feet. had had it on ms foot but never so bad or in both legs. this morning had a heck of a time moving around. felt like i had done a few million deep knee bends in both legs and lots of weakness. got trusty old walker out and it helped a lot. called neuro and now am on baclofen at night to start. never knew spasticity felt like this. thank God for friends to pick up things at store for me. ... also truly appreciate my old walker! do need to get a shelf or sack or something to carry things in. do you find that when you finally see a doctor, you feel halfway good that day? began going downhill after leaving neuro monday! LOL? linda

insurance nixed adderall, but on a generic pill that acts just like you said. hate all these pills, but will discuss w/neuro and psych about mood stabilizers. linda
