Hi all,

Just thought I would give you a follow up on my self catherisation. I had so much trouble with my bladder (in addition, to the usual frequency, urgency etc) resulting in leaking and worse. Scans showed my bladder was not emptying properly which is common with MS. Reluctantly I learned to self catheterise & dr said to do it 3 times a day to protect the kidneys. Dr said the bladder had become stretched.

Well, twice a day was all I did & after 1 month I started to regain a lot more bladder control & now after 3 months I only self catheterise about 1 every couple of days and even that does not really seem necessary. I have REGAINED a lot of bladder control & life is much, much easier. I take no meds for bladder & just thought I would give you the good news that it is possible to actually improve. My bladder is probably the same as it was 6 years ago. If your bladder is giving you trouble I would encourage you to go for the tests cos if you can give the bladder a chance to shrink back it can learn to function properly again. smilewinkgrin smilewinkgrin smilewinkgrin
Have had relapsing/remitting MS since 10 yrs old. Secondary/progressive since 1995.
