i know, I know...I have not been on here for along time. Sorry. I have missed all of you, just got so caught up with Holidays and new grandson. But I am in need of some advise too...

Long story short, Had a normal Mammogram recently after being told I had mastitus (I am 51), was put on Augmentin for 10 days...still not better. Breast is swollen, very sore in nipple, flakey and having some discharge off and on. I just had a breast MRI 3 days ago. Today, my surgeon calls and now wants a punch biopsy because the MRI showed enhancement and is concerned this might be pagets.

Question- This cannot be related to my MS can it? Should I call my MS Dr. in the morning and fill him in on whats going on. It just occurred to me, that the 2 could be related???? Thanks Kate

Hey Katie,

I am sorry!  This sounds worrisome.  I hope it all works out ok.  I would ask surgeon to email, fax or otherwise notify your neurologist.  I always have my doctors talk to each other.  I hate being the go between.  I might follow up with a "What did you think about what my surgeon had to say?".

Please keep us posted!  How are you doing with the MS?

Hi Gretchen, otherwise I am doing well. My MS has been very mild. Had some muscle issues around Thanksgiving, but nothing I could not tolerate. Still have the spasums off and on and balance trouble from time to time, but again, nothing horrible. No more vision trouble as of late.

I have been researching and I really doubt my breast issue has anything to do w/ my MS, but think I will call my MS Dr. in the morning to let him know whats going on as well as have my surgeon send any findngs on his reports, tests, biopsys, etc...to him...just to know I have covered all the bases.

I'll come back and let you know what biopsy report indicates soon as i know. Hope your doing well to, have missed talking to you. Hugs~Kate

Katie,

I have missed talking to you as well.  What is happening in your neck of the woods?  Tell me all about your new grandson!!  I love babies!  Is he close enough to see often?  I hope so!

Hey Gretchen ~ I tell ya what, next to being a Mom, being a grandma is just as nice and even better since I didn't have to carry him for 9 months!!!lol.

He was born Oct.28 and weighed 6.1....now he is a healthy 10lb boy! They named him McCoy , middle name Lincoln. He is SO CUTE and such a good baby! He has reflux but the Dr. said he will outgrow it, and is already showing much improvement.

My son and his wife live next to us. We gave them some of our land so they built a home about 800 yards away from ours, so yes, grandma gets to see him often and babysit. My daughter in law recently passed State boards for her Nursing RN and will start working this summer 2 days a week. Guess who gets to watch the munchkin:) Me!
I already have plans to find a nice pony for the future. Gotta get him in the saddle......well maybe by the time he is 3 anyway. lol Both my boys were riding at 2 and a half.

Life has been good. Hectic Holiday, but very nice. How about you? Are you still teaching? How have you been feeling? I also started a new exercise program and was doing great till this breast issue happened. I am still working out, but not as hard since my left breast is kinda sore right now. Sure can't wait till biopsy day is over. Geeze, whats next? I finally grow up and get my head on straight, my act together and my body fails me:( Crap it is *&*^%$# getting old...older ( I am 51). ANYWAY...

Last summer I got into cycling and was biking about 15-20 miles a day and it is SO addicting! Just love it! Has helped my muscles alot to. Not near as bad leg problems as I was having from the MS. I bought an indoor bike trainer to keep at it over the winter ( I just put my bikes back wheel into it, and off I go spinning) and it has helped me maintain my endurance. Love it!

So anyway, life is good. This breast thing is a bit unnerving, but will deal with it one day at a time, just like I do the MS. Hopefully, it won't amount to much and I can put it behind me. I'll let ya know what they find out. Wont know till 3 days after Biopsy, which is next Thursday.

Take care of yourself, oh by the way...my MS Doc says breast issue is not related to my MS, but still wants full report from my surgeon as to how things progress. Take care , sorry this is so long:) I was on a roll, lol~ Kate
