The neurologist mentioned something about myopathy and ran the following tests:

pyruvic acid

I have multiple symptoms but I also have hypothyroidism. My thyroid tests are now and have been great for the past 2 years.  I was recently tested and they are still good.

Major Symptoms:

muscle aches, muscle twitching, Fatigue, weakness worsened by exercise, clumsy, hard to pick up small things.  (Like coins on a table or separating papers) I slur my words at times.  A lot of these symptoms come and go but he exercise causing weakness and fatigue see to always be there.

I am also going to have an EMG, muscle mapping and he some other stuff but he was a bit hard to understand with his accent that I didn't quite catch the other tests.

Can anyone help me out with what he is looking for?  I have not been diagnosed with anything. I have been on this forum before with my symptoms but this is my first neurologist I have seen.  My symptoms have been going on for at least 5 years.

He also did a test where he held his finger up high and made me stare at it. It was SO HARD to keep my eyes up there.  I just wanted to cry.  What is that test for?

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

Hi there....this is a very difficult question, as it is difficult to tell you what he is testing for...sure we could give you a bunch of ideas and theroies, but we could all be wrong as well....
The best place to get these the answers to your questions, would be from the expert and the actual person doing the tests.
Take the time to sit down and discuss with this doctor as to why he is doing these tests, what are they for, and what are his thoughts as to the reason for doing these tests...
Hope all works out for you
