I was diagnosed 6 months ago with an anal fissure.  It has gotten a lot worse.  It feels like I am being stabbed when I have a BM.  I finally went to another doctor today (I have moved) and he said he saw no fissure.  Along with the pain there is often a lot of bleeding.  He said that I have an anal spasm.  Does anyone else have this?  I researched it and it said it is a pain like a charlie horse... like a spasm.  Mine is only when I have a BM.  Any info would help!  Thanks!!!

Hi there, well I have had anal fissures, and they are not nice - it feels like there are razor blades inside...and they do take awhile to heal.....
I doubt that they are spasms as you have been told, and the reason u say this is that you mentioned bleeding when you go to the washroom...that to me has fissure written all over it.

the best thing to do is to take lots of warm sit baths, this will make it feel better and takes the sting away....drink lots and lots of water, and eat lots and lots of fibre....u will have a hard time getting rid of the fissure if you are constipated in any way...

There are various "numbing" rectal medication that u can get over the counter - go to your pharmacy and ask...

Good luck with this

Hi there and good morning - Im pretty sure that you do have a fissure. I do not think that a spasm would cause any bleeding. I have had them too, and they are not nice......I described as razor blades up there. they do take awhile to go away...there are a couple of things that u can do to relieve the pain, as well assist u in getting rid of the fissure.

Take lots of sits baths....with nice warm water....it really does make it feel better
Drink tons of water, and eat lots of fibre.....the worst thing that u can have is constipation and fissures at the same time...
There are some ointments that u can get over the counter at your pharmacy -go there and talk to the pharmasist - some of them will take care of the pain for u...
