Hello,

So let's see here, I'm new to this whole forum thing & my sister is actually the one who found it. I have MS and I was clinically diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago. I only had signs of numbess, tingley. And since then I really haven't been worked up with anything major. I had numerous MRIs, CTs, X-rays, etc. I also have RA which I was diagnosed with when I was 11 & now I'm 20.
Over the summer I noticed my symptoms became increasingly worse. I have severe muscle spasms, hip pain, numbness, increase of symptoms with heat, and spinal pain. I have a new neurologists who is kinda questioning my diagnosis & now am being worked up again. I'm incrediably tired of it all. All I want is some relief. Does anyone have any suggestions on medications that I could look up or personal experiences, etc. It would all greatly be appreciated!

Treatments for MS are poor and extremely expensive.  As you know, MS is incurable and progressive.  There are no real treatments.  There are four mainstream meds that doctors like to have MSers take that attempt to slow down the progression.  These may or may not work for you.  Everyone is different.  I am assuming that because you are asking about medications that you were not starting on a disease modifying med?  There are four mainstream meds.  I am sure you can google them and get plenty of info.  There is Copaxone, Betaseron, Rebif, and Avonex.  All of these meds are self-injected anywhere from once a day to once a week.  You may also want to google CCSVI.  That is a brand new theory/treatment that is not yet approved yet many are having success with.

Oh and none of these treat symtoms.  If you want "relief" you may want to ask your doctor about specific treatments for whatever symptom you are experiencing.  If you are having pain, ask for a pain med, if you are having spasticity then ask for that and so on.

There are no meds that help with numbness.

Well I am on methotrexate for my RA then & they told me it also helped with the MS. I honestly didn't pursue it any further. I was tired of being jerked around and sick but now I know/understand the seriousness of MS. Just wanted some help... Thank you
