Hello everyone!  I just joined your forum and thought I would introduce myself and give a bit of info.  I have not been diagnosed with MS although my primary physician did mention it as possibly something we needed to look into about a year ago.  Not knowing then that possible MS symptoms come and go, I have not yet pursued further - but think I may need to now.

If you do not mind reading, I would like to post my symptoms and I appreciate any comments / suggestions, etc!

about 7 years ago, my left lower leg started hurting horribly - right around the shin area.  Went to dr and had an ultrasound done but nothing showed. I accepted it as "one of those things"!  As a child / teenager, I remember always feeling as though I could not get enough air into my lungs - I'd take deep breaths, but always felt as though I could not breathe deep enough...sounds crazy, I know but it has come back recently.

Have had left leg pain off and on throughout; but about 5 years ago, I had problems with tingling and numbness in my left arm, hand, leg and foot - talk about scary! Also started getting migraines. During a couple of migraine episodes, one side of my face felt as though it was drooping.

The pains have always come and gone but lately when they come, it is much, much worse.  My upper arms feel as though someone has punched me.  My daughter can joke around with me and poke me and it feels as though she used her fist! My hands hurt and feel swollen all the time now and my upper arms get tired and weak really quick.  I have balance issues - can be standing in one spot and almost fall down for no apparent reason. My short-term memory is a joke and I have problems thinking of the right words.  Was trying to tell someone the other day that I needed to take my dog to the vet to be weighed; instead I said needed to take my dog to the vet to be buried!! Things like this happen quite often and my kids usually finish my sentences for me. I have on occasion, muscle spasms in my chest and in my foot.  The back of my hands and upper arms will go through times of itching badly with no rash or anything there.

I did have shingles several months ago.  It was caught before it broke out full force on my head and face.  Also I find bruises on myself and have no idea how they got there.  Woke one morning and my hand looked as though it was bruised but it went away within a few minutes.

I apologize for the lengthy post but honestly I feel better just knowing I can let all of this out and not be accused of being a hypochondriac!

Thanks so much for reading!! wink

Hi TakingCharge,

Welcome to the forum.  I am sorry you find yourself looking into health issues.

Hopefully you will find some other, more treatable reason for your symptoms.

Not to send you off, but you might want to post on the Fibromyalgia board as well.  Your symptoms sound a bit like Fibro too.  MS is a very difficult disease to diagnose.  The symptoms are varied and shared by so many other illnesses.  I wish you the best of luck getting to the bottom of your problems.  Below is a link to the diagnostic process of MS.  This lists the usual tests and procedures that some go through to get a diagnosis.

Please feel free to post, ask questions and keep us informed as to what is happening with your diagnostic situation.

Thanks so much for your reply Gretchen! When asked what user name I wanted, I chose this one because I have in the past listened to people tell me that it is probably nothing and I've finally decided at 44 yrs old, it's time for me to take charge of my own body and health!

I appreciate this forum and while I will take your advice and also post on the Fibro board, would like to stick around here as well. I have a few more things to take care of and then will be going to my doctor by next month to get things checked out.

Thanks again,
Lisa

You are more than welcome to stay and post anywhere you are comfortable.  We have many members that post on several boards, especially those in limbo.
