Hi Im a 39 year old female. I would describe myself previously to have been active and healthy.
Then 4 years ago my father died at 55 years old suddenly without warning of a blocked aorta. Within 12months of this i began feeling very tired etc and in the end they diagnosed me with auto immune hypothyroidism. I am on 125 levothyroxine now and my levels are fine.
But the last 9 months i have started feeling ill and so tired most of the time. They prescribed me with simvastatin for elevated cholesterol. I have a permanently numb patch on my left leg, i get tingles and burning sensations in my legs and now arms which come and go. I have being told that i now have double vision and have to wear glasses. I get a lot of twitchy feelings. Recently i have, which is worrying me the most started to wake up choking and coughing, i get out of breath really easy now, and am waking up with severe night sweats even when it is cold.
I went to my doctor and told them this as i was getting to my wits end and they prescribed anti depressants for depression and sent me to an ear nose and throat specialist who said i was to have antacids for possible silent reflux. I have had MRI which came back clear and blood tests for various other things which all came back ok.
It is all driving me crazy i feel terrible for days on end then it seems to subside a little then come back again i am so fed up, can anyone give me any advise. Is it possible this could be the start of ms even with the clear mri.

Your symptoms could be caused by many things. Many of your symptoms are not at all MS. Double vision that can be corrected with glasses means it's not neurological. Vision problems associated with MS aren't correctable with glasses. The night sweats neither are an MS symptom as far as I know. The clean MRI on top of that does make it appear that MS might be the wrong direction.

The fact that you cycle ok and then low every couple of days makes it seem like an infection. You might want to check for Lyme.

Feel free to ask questions here and on the Lyme board.
Diagnosed with MS July 2006

I have no lesions on my soul and so I live with no limits.

Did they do a spinal tap? What part of the spine did they check. there are three parts of the spine. A lesion could be in any three parts if they didn't check. Also lyme disease can trigger ms. The good thing is they didn't find any lesions. But pay close attention to your symptoms. I saw five doctors before I was diagnosed with ms. Remember become educated about your health so you know what question to ask your doctor. For more details visit www.alternativemsrecovery.com and good luck.
