I am really searching for answers and could use the help of anyone diagnosed with MS and familiar with the disease. I am a 29 year old female who has been having a variety of symptoms for 3 years. Started with numbness and tingling in my hands, then digestive problems (lack of enzymes to digest food, stomach polyps, gastritis). The symptoms would come and go, usually for a couple months at a time.

Within the last year, I have developed several neurological symptoms. Numbness down the right side of my body, followed by pain, muscle spasms and muscle weakness. Then it usually spreads to the other side of my body. The most recent symptoms are eye pain, extreme dryness in one eye, muscle twitching and numbness around that eye and side of the face, difficulties swallowing, numbness under my tongue with a heavy feeling that is difficult to describe. The mouth stuff has really been bothering me lately. I have nerve pain that moves around my body. Also I have times when my whole body feels extremely heavy and difficulties breathing. I am frequently dizzy, clumsy, and sometime feel like I am in a fog. My symptoms always progress as the day goes on and some days are better than others.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after a normal MRI and a nerve conduction study that showed some abnormalities on the right side of my body. I was put on Lyrica and told that I could have another MRI in 6 months to see if I really have MS. I don't know if this is just Fibromyalgia or what is happening to me, but I cannot just sit around like this for another 6 months. I feel miserable and scared. Any ideas?

Rebecca

I was checked for Crohn's. I had a panel checking for several autoimmune disorders and they were all negative. The endoscope found scarring from gastritis and polyps and I had a normal colonoscopy. They finally decided my pancreas is just not functioning properly and I have to take creon when I eat. You have MS and Fibro?

Yes. I got the MS DX in 1999, and about 4 years ago I got a pain pump for all the pain I was having. about 2 years ago, I got the DX of Fibro.
The pump has Bachlofen and Morphine running 24/7. Can you get another Dr. to check you out?

This is the second neurologist I have been to but I am starting to wonder. Do you ever have numbness in your face? Similar to being at the dentist but all over? I usually have muscle spasms in my face during the day and numbness at night. Makes it very difficult to talk or eat.

sometimes I have numbness in the face, but not as frequently as my speech has a slur, lisp, or really can't think of the words I'm trying to say. "cog fog" I call it. Similar to the "fibro fog", but with both, I call it Cog Fog, (named after the cognitive challenges both DX gave me) Over all, the left side of my body is weaker. I would see a lot more difficulities with the left side of my body, than my right.
