Hello my name is Kim. I am 35 y/o and was recently diagnosed w/MS. (5/12) I have what I believe to be seizures usually at night. At first, it only seemed to happen if I had a physically or mentally straining day....but for the past month or more, its become way more often. I tremor violently, sweat, jerk my mouth from side to side, scratch my skin OFF (i think sensory hallucination) rip at my clothes, have alot of confusion just before and after (blank stares )....and do not remember a thing. My BF is the one trying to deal w it. I am struggling to find a even decent Neuro around here so I hope the third one will be a charm, but do not see her until 2/27...so unfortunately, I suffer through this until then. the only thing that seems off that they are seizures is seizures tend to last a couple minutes, where my episodes range from 20 min-2-3 hour!!
Anyone else???? Experience, helpful advice or comments much needed, thanks!

Kim

Kim, while not identical I relate to your seizure experience. I was diagnosed w/primary progressive MS in 1999 & seizures began in 2000. For me, it was 1 or more a month - no warning/awake/asleep & no resolution until fall of 2006. In my case, I only passed out which caused lose of bladder control; scraps/bruises from falls; permanent lose of life event memories (IE, know when & where I went to college but little recall of college life/graduation...); & reduced mental processing. The seizures were caused by hydrocephalus (water on the brain). I was unsuccessfully treated w/different seizures medications.

My MS lesions interfered with the flow of fluid (CSF) through the brain and spinal cord, pressure would build & cause a seizure. Finally, I was blessed with finding a neurologist who believed my seizures could be resolved by having a shunt surgically inserted in my brain. The shunt was successful, SEIZURE FREE SINCE 2007 & my mental processing dramatically improved (though no memory restoration). I continue taking a lower dosage of a seizure medication. I still have MS symptoms as numbness/fatigue but, I was finally back to being ME!! I pray you find a successful resolution for your seizures.
In Texas, bsmstx
