Hi, I am a 25-year-old female with Type 1 Diabetes who has been experiencing significant health problems since being treated with broad-spectrum antibiotics for a staph infection last year. In the 6 months that followed: I relapsed, suffered from PID(involved more broad-spectrum abx), developed nodules on my thyroid, was diagnosed with gastritis/IBS, battled numerous strep throats.

Right now, I have been seeing a Gastroenterologist and had a plethora of tests done. I am waiting for the results. I am starting to think I have another autoimmune disease due to the length of my symptoms:

Hair loss/Change in texture
Irregular menstrual cycles
Tingling/Numbness in extremities
Chronic Constipation
Cracking Joints/Snapping bones (everytime I move now something creaks, pops or snaps)
Muscle spasms/twitching
Blurred vision (I also have intense insomnia now, may be related)
Cold hands and feet

Anyone who could help me with the direction I should go in regards to my symptoms, suggestions/comments are obviously appreciated. The fact that this has developed from an infection/antibiotics is terrifying. I quit work and live at home in an attempt to heal myself but I haven't made any real progress. I am scared and feel exasperatd with all of my health problems.

Please check out the Lyme disease page and see if your symptoms match. Personally in the last year I had multiple skin infections (not staph) and some of my other symptoms were constipation, change in hair texture, shortened menstrual cycles, numbness, brain fog, blurred vision, cold hands and feet....many of these symptoms could be from deficiencies caused by lyme but not the lyme itself.
I was worried it was MS but I improved pretty rapidly on certain abx and on others I herx (get worse) which some say is a confirmation of Lyme. I would encourage you to check this route before MS. Also, the Lyme tests are very inaccurate, if the symptoms match try checking into finding an LLMD
