I recently moved out of state. I’ve had to start over again with new doctors. This is Especially True with something like MS that Necessitates you replacing Specialty Physicians (like a neurologist) and in fairly short order.

It took 2+ years to actually get me diagnosed. More than half of that time was spent going from doctor to doctor telling me that there was Nothing physically wrong with me, that it was all just “in my head”. Mind you, not one of the so-called doctors that said this to me bothered to run a single test. Not one test. They “listened” to me for a few minutes, usually over just *one* visit and decided without so much as one test .. “there’s Nothing wrong with you” ..

Since my diagnosis (04/2011) I’ve had 5 or 6 neurologists try their hand at managing my symptoms with meds. These are “just” the 5 or 6 (over 2 different states) that even if they weren’t medicinally helpful, at least they did Not condescend to me.

Last week I went to the first neurologist I’ve seen here since I moved to my new place. I had my MRIs literally in hand. He said “I don’t need to see those”. He asked a few perfunctory questions and in less than 20 minutes, without running a single test, or reviewing a single medical record that I had with me, Triumphantly Declared, “there’s Nothing wrong with you” ..

He went on to say that I should be *Happy* that (according to him) I “don’t have” MS. I responded “well, I might be happy abt it. Except that what you’re telling me is that All my symptoms for the past 3+ years, Now (according to this doofus) have No Explanation.”

Needless to say, I’m not going back to that doofus. But beyond that, this had me Really depressed and angry.

I thought doctors were supposed to help ?? I wouldn’t even take issue if they wanted to re-do all the tests. My understanding is that they’re supposed to anyway, to create their own “baseline” to follow/check to monitor the MS. But to tell someone basically “it’s all in your head” ?? Where do these “doctors” come from anyway and who trains these ppl ?? Doctors are supposed to “Do No Harm.” I can list 2+ years worth of doctors, plus last week’s doofus that don’t Even have the 1st clue what that means.

Anyway, sorry for the “b*tch session”.

If anyone is aware of any decent physicians in the Central FL area, please post below? I’m at my wit’s end.
