Hello,

I was wondering with the optic neuritis, does this cause eye redness and burning? Or just vision loss?

Thank you

Burning can be a symptom. I'm not sure about redness. For me I have eye pain like someone was pushing on my closed eye lid; like pressure. It hurt to move it too. And then of course I had vision issues. First I lost the color vision. It was all very sepia-like. It was like an Andrew Wyeth painting. Then it got worse and it was like looking through wax paper.

It took massive amounts of steroids and 4 months to get my vision back.

Thank you Gretchen1.

My left eye has pressure behind it right now, that has been going on for about two days now. By the end of the day yesterday if i tried looking around my eyes would start watering because my left eye hurt so badly.

I had pain and pressure. The eye movement pain you describe sounds bad. That is similar to what I have experienced. I think you should see an opthalmologist. Let me know how you are doing.

I was just dx with Retrobulbar ON. I have some pain in the left, fuzziness in the lower left quadrant, and weird brilliant blue spots at sporadic moments. My optic nerve is fine, so doc says it's behind the nerve and more in the brain. MRI scheduled for Feb. 27th to see what's going on. I have only taken LDN for since May 2013 after being dx with MS in Dec. 2012 and then positive for lyme in Sept. 2013.

Eye doc said RON is something the patient can see, but the doctor cannot. I asked about the blue spots, and he said he has heard it before, but everyone has different symtpoms of ON or RON.
08/12 - LabCorp WB Lyme positive for bands 23/41, but CDC negative
12/12 - Diagnosed with RRMS
10/13 - Igenex/CDC Lyme Positive - 23-25, 31+++, 34, 39, 41+++, 83-93

I was just diagnosed with optic neuritis last week. I have eye pain, redness, pressure, dryness, crazy vision problems.. you name it… My eyes even make noise when I move them sometimes. They put me on 3 days of IV steroids which seemed to help some with the vision but not with the pain. To make things even more interesting I am already legally blind in my other eye since birth so it’s been a blast…

I’m sorry you are going thought this. It’s really tough especially with all the other symptoms… I wish I had some advice for you but I am still struggling myself. Good luck and hang in there.
October 2013- DX with Fibromyalgia
December 2013 Brain MRI shows abnormality but MS doc says it’s not typical of an MS lesion.
January 2014 Lumbar Puncture comes normal with the exception of low vitamin D.
February 2014 DX with Optic Neuritis via eye doc. Treated with 3 days IV steroids. Minimal improvement to vision.
