Since my MS dx, whenever I sleep on my stomach, I wakeup and both ring fingers and pinkies are numb as well as the bottom half of each forearm. Now I had a lesion at C3 to C5, but I also have a T4 disc herniation. I have been told the T4 does not involve the fingers, so I assume the lesion could be causing this from compression on my position of sleep?

I was in a car accident years ago and had neck issues then, also months before my dx, I was hammering at an angle that made my neck and right arm cramp and tingle and dropped the hammer 20ft to the ground. I remember the next day feeling an electric charge down my right whenever bent my head forward.

The reason I ask is because the MRI of both spines only showed a T4 issue, but I am wondering if there is damage in the neck the MRI did not pick up. I went to a chiropractor who said something is preventing my neck from moving left freely.

Anyway, would a compression on the lesion itself cause numbness until compression is relieved, or do you guys think I have actual neck injuries?

It's really hard to say. The neck forward resulting in an electric shock down your neck is absolutely MS. It's called L'hermittes syndrome. It indicates damage in the spine.

I agree that the T4 herniation is probably not the cause. I can't really say if your positional numbness is pressure on a spinal lesion.

I am numb from mid shins down. More so on the right. It's from a lesion on my T10 area. It doesn't come and go. It came 6 years ago and has stayed. It actually started out at my waist. The numbness receded after 5 days of solumedrol.

Best of luck to you!
Diagnosed with MS July 2006

I have no lesions on my soul and so I live with no limits.
